I’m horrible at blogging

September 8, 2008

Ok, so I suck at this whole blog thing, I get it. I just don’t ever feel like anything significant is happening that I need to post a blog about. So here’s what has been going on…briefly.

A politicians and prostitutes bday party…that’s me as Marilyn Monroe,

Went to a politicians and prostitutes bday party...that's me as Marilyn

My family in town…rafting with friends,

dinner with the Carithers/Mahoneys,

three generations hanging in the village,

and not so sober at the Red Lion seeing old George play.

I spent my birthday over at Grand Lake with the Morrill’s who are like family…unfortunately the weather was a bit shady so I don’t have many pictures and Hanna won’t send me the cute ones from the bar…slacker.

Then it snowed in August which was AWESOME…not!

My co-ed softball team won the Wednesday night Championship AGAIN…back to back champs!

It was a bit dark

2 winners...one loser

And then off to Aspen for Widespread Panic and Ztrip…things got crazy…note the flamingo.

So that’s my life in photos…easy as that. Heading to water ski in the freezing cold lake tomorrow and then heading to the motherland of Arkansas at the end of the week to see the fam, see all the babies, and watch the Hogs.

Things going through my mind…is there actually a candidate that I feel comfortable voting for…are the Hogs going to go 2-10 or should I be cautiously opptimistic…will the Cowboys finally break their playoff slump (yes I realize it’s week 1)…and will I survive my float down the Grand Canyon?

Things are getting colder in the good ole CO…30’s at night and 70’s during the day. Bring on the snow!

Mile High Recap

July 25, 2008

WOW! What an amazing line-up and fantastic festival. Besides the beer being $8 a pop and it being 102 degrees (thank goodness I’m from AR), it was a great time spent with great friends. I picked up a few new bands that I’m now a huge fan of and heard some classics that will never die in my mind. Check out Rose Hill Drive for some pretty energetic rock; Lupe Fiasco in a rap/rock type genre; Brett Dennen has the coolest voice I’ve heard in a while and was great live; Ingrid Michaelson was the best band that I only walked by the tent and now wish I had stopped for; Tea Leaf Green, Citizen Cope, The Roots, The Black Crowes, Steve Winwood, OAR, Gavin DeGraw, DMB all rocked out; AND TOM PETTY RULES THE STAGE…PERFECTION.

I didn’t take many pics of the performances because I just never thought about it, but here are some from the party we went to Friday and the festival itself and some video footage of some of the shows.

There weren’t any Rose Hill Drive videos from MHMF YET on the web, but look them up as there are tons of live videos of them from other venues. They were listed in the Top 10 Bands to Watch by Rolling Stones this year.

Same goes for Brett Dennen and OAR…wish I could find videos of their performances for you, but as they become available, I’ll post them.

So after 46 artists, 24 hours of music, lots of beer, vodka lemonade and water, 3 bottles of spray sunscreen, 6 naps, 1 puking (not me…woo hoo), 2 faints (again, not me) and 1 paramedic (still not me), we had 1 helluva good time and at least 2 of the 3 will be returning again next year. Can’t wait!

And PS: On the ride home on Monday, my favorite little girl in the world was born…Vivian Taylor Allmendinger…to Heather and Scott Allmendinger.  As I get pics, I’ll post them of her.  She’s so precious!!

Mile High Music Festival

July 18, 2008

Heading down to Denver this weekend for the Inaugural Mile High Music Festival. Be jealous, be very, very jealous. Below is the line-up for Saturday and Sunday. I’ll post more when I return on Monday (if I return). Have a great weekend!

Summer so far…

July 18, 2008

Hey Gang…thought I’d do this so all of my friends and family that have yet to get caught in the evil claws of Facebook could keep up with my pictures and adventures. I’ll try updating it weekly if anything exciting has happened, so check back from time to time to see what’s happening in my world.

Here’s a little taste of what I’ve been doing so far this summer in picture form. Most are taken on the river which seems to be where I spend the majority of my time these days now that I’m a full-blown raft owner. Others are camping up near Piney (north of Vail) and in Moab, UT.

Enjoy and don’t expect anything profound to be located at this site. Just good, clean (or not) fun!
