Magdeburg
Dateline from the same city where I happen to be, in advance for what could be an upcoming Sunday that changes everything. If you read my social feeds, you already know the play by play. Needless to say, we are five years short of the quadricentennial of the last time when things in this city were so intense.
This is more of a blog-appropriate archival profundity.
There’s all this, which is mostly about the hypocrisy of the matter related to all that is going on right under my feet. Google Translate loses nothing important.
I want to talk about the differences between RWEs who turn Judas and go full leftard on the one hand, and RWEs who sort of “age out” of the goober groups (as I’ve been calling them for a long time) and go into more starched shirt and mainstream-ish alt or dissident right activities.
The difference in the way they’re treated, you can read in this article.
I want to talk about the more back dated deeper psychological differences between the two groups.
When it comes to the first group, the RWEs that switch to the left, what it all means, and what it all adds up to, is that they were never were ideologically dedicated to RWE-ism or the RW to begin with. That they only were or cosplayed RWE because it was a cool, tittilating, transgressive, provocative, shock-inducing, in sort of a fad/trend sense. And that when they got bored with and tired of it like kids do toys, (which is another useful metaphor to explain the initial attraction, that RWE was just the new shiny toy), they discover that they spent all those years running around with bent cross flags and clothing, or something similar. Then they see groups like ADL and SPLC in America, or AAS and ZdJ here, and their supporters, who will pay a lot of money to hear about “ex”-“Nazis” and RWEs and their “Damascene conversions.” Because, like this article says, the kook left just eats it up. Just as they once superficially pretended to be Nazis, they can just as easily flip and invert and superficially pretend to be leftards, and collect big checks along the way. In the case of a few of them, they might actually become left wingers. That, and in the case of the reformed RWE circuit sponsored by the SPLC, you have to wonder if some of those people ever were RWE, superficial or otherwise, because half of them it seems like turn out to be people that nobody back in the RWE scene ever heard of or could place with a face. The accusation here being that the Damascenes are full on SPLC actors, and after months of indictments of the SPLC, it’s a contention that has become all the more plausible, and in fact, we might actually get proof of in the coming months and years as the legal trials proceed. For as much money as the paranoia-industrial complex can make off the back of sap leftists who want to hear about this “ex”-“Nazi” who came to Jesus, the motive to create Potemkin defectors out of thin air is obvious.
Alongside of that, Kevin DeAnna told the FroJax guys a few weeks ago something I already figured out, that in his years in the movement, that sure as Christ made apples, that people who come into the movement with really big intense fire and energy and radicalism are the first ones to flame out, and they either become left wingers, or just disappear back into normiedom, or go into some weirdo pursuit. So you have to wonder how serious they were. Or if they were, then it was just a matter of the reality that our sector is one that requires marathon runner discipline and pacing. Because it took decades upon decades to assemble the machine we’re resisting, it’s going to take just as long to dismantle it or build our own machine to take it out. Sprinters come in expecting quick and fast social and political changes, and when it inevitably doesn’t happen that way, they get disillusioned, and then leave either for the left or kookville or back to normiedom. In contrast, people who have always approached the movement and the sector with more moderate ideology, temperament, energy and expectations (Kevin DeAnna making a very clear allusion to his boss, Jared Taylor) are the ones who will probably be at it for decades (as JT has been). JT is a marathoner, compared to Richard Spencer (who I know KDA was thinking of) was a sprinter. JT was built for the long haul and unsurprisingly has been in a long haul cause for a long haul of time. In contrast, there’s a reason Usain Bolt never entered a marathon.
Now for the latter group, people who initially sign on with goober groups as young/er people but then slowly age out of them, grow up a little, put on starched shirts and ironed slacks and go to work for mainstream-presenting outfits (even if their politics aren’t yet mainstream). Yes, in this country, the many people who used to be involved in what are euphemistically called Verfassungswidrigesgruppen (“unconstitutional organizations,” think: The latter day fan club of the failed Austrian painter), as teenagers and YAs, but then quit them and migrate over to the AfD or some “Stiftung” (“foundation” or “think tank”) as they get into middle age, are an example. The psychology behind them is that they were genuinely invested in and dedicated to right wing (i.e. right of the normie right) ideology, but they started getting interested at a time when either the starched shirt orgs didn’t exist, or they didn’t know about them. But it doesn’t mean they didn’t have the itch that needed to be scratched. They therefore “scratched” by strapping up with a goober group, having no better option. You can draw the same analogy in America, only the names of the groups on both side of the legitimacy divide are different. Once they get tired of gooberville, and figure out it’s going nowhere, they’ll go mainstream if there is a mainstream boat to get aboard. Remember, in the case of the several individuals listed in this article that transitioned from goober to AfD, when they started out in goober, the AfD didn’t exist, not even as a twinkle in Frauke Petry’s eyes. AfD wouldn’t even exist until February 2013, and wouldn’t become what it is today until the events of eleven years ago at this time of which everyone is now familiar. For its first two and a half years, it was mainly a Euroskeptic and anti-bailout party; Once the bad effects of the Merkel bailouts (a saga that never got any media play in America, in contrast to eleven years ago and swinging the gates open), washed through and out, the AfD’s first surge of support from being anti-bailout also washed out. Wir Schaffen Das gave it new purpose and new life, eventually leading to the present moment.
So, when it comes to the people who started out in the goober right and transitioned to the starched shirt pop-nat-right as they got older, it also tells me that they would have never gone on with the goober groups if they even had the starched shirt groups as an option when they were first cutting their teeth. Which is to say, if the AfD was formed say in 2000 instead of 2013, then these people would have gone with it from the jump and would have never had any interest in the goober groups to begin with. For proof of that, I can attest that the AfD getting to a certain level of strength totally wiped out everything to its own right in this country, goober or otherwise, other than the one or two cranks that might still belong to this or that. If you were, say, 16 years old, in this country, in 2000, and of a certain mindset, you might have started running with the bent cross yahoos. But the comparably situated 16-year olds of 2026 are going straight to the AfD, not passing Go, not collecting $200, and thus, will luckily avoid the future embarrassment of being associated with bent crosses.
To wrap this up, my personal opinion about the controversial husband of the stunning beauty you see in the article’s thumbnail is this: I don’t really believe he ever was a genuine neo-Nazi, because I don’t believe he’s a genuine Greenie now. He claimed neo-Nazi back in 1995 for the same reason he’s a Green Party member now. In both instances, he was just buckling to a fad.
