InXinjiang(118)丨Bangladeshi journalist: Seek truth from facts to understand the real Xinjiang

2026-05-21 18:47

Al Mamun Harun Ur Rashid is a senior staff reporter for The New Nation in Bangladesh. He has visited China on multiple occasions, and this marks his first trip to northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

As a media veteran working in overseas public opinion circles, his past understanding of Xinjiang was largely shaped by biased and one-sided reports from Western media. His on-the-ground visit has completely shattered his long-held stereotypes about Xinjiang. He said that Western media have long dominated public opinion, leaving many overseas people unable to learn the real facts about Xinjiang.

Having witnessed firsthand Xinjiang's current peace and stability, booming cultural and tourism industries, and people living happy and peaceful lives, he said that as a journalist, he will faithfully present authentic stories of Xinjiang to the people of Bangladesh and build a bridge of friendly communication between Bangladeshi people and Chinese people in Xinjiang.

His journey to Xinjiang has been incredibly rewarding. Sharing his most profound insight from the trip, Harun Rashid sincerely said: "We should seek truth from facts. We should not be confined to any dogmatism and what is being imposed on us. We shouldn't believe it in the first hand, we should judge it, we should reread it or redefine it."
