I'm trying to buy a house. And to comply with EU's "Know Your Customer" rules, the seller's real estate agent and the lawfirm I hired to make sure the contract is all shipshape need me to answer a bunch of questions to ensure I'm not a baddie trying to buy a house in small town rural Denmark to somehow launder ill-gotten blood money.
The KYC process is a bunch of online forms, and one of the first questions was "How would you classify the money you're about to use", to which I picked 'Savings'.
Then "How did you save the money" and a text field where I wrote 'by not spending them'
And later on there were a bunch of yes/no questions mostly about my relation to politicians (to avoid bribery) and "Are you involved in transactions or activities that involves oil, precious metals, gems, raw tobacco, guns, or war materiel?". and I picked yes to guns because I am a competition shooter, gun owner, and on the board of a shooting club.
Only the "how did you save the money" was meant as "How did you acquire it", expecting me to like write wages, salary, inheritance or the like, despite not being what it said.
And "Transactions and activities" was meant as economic activities, but wasn't specified.
So now my property deal is on hold because I basically told the anti-corruption anti-laundering software that I have unexplained wealth and am involved in weapons trading.
WRITE WHAT YOU MEAN IN PLAIN ******* DANISH YOU ******* BUREAUCRATS.
Thank you for reading my blogpost, and pic related, its how the system sees me right now.
