This is the conclusion to Thursday’s post, When All Looks Well …
Ouch! That hurt. He was guessing he had a big bruise on his forehead by now, but he was so frustrated. Why wasn’t his experiment working? What was he doing wrong, thought Drake, after smacking his head for the umpteenth time.
Try, try again, had always been his motto, but he was considering releasing his victims and simply giving up. Though that would create another problem. They would spread the word about him, and police may soon be knocking on his door. Which may lead them to dig up his yard, and that would be a really bad, bad, bad thing!
Releasing them was out of the question. With a heavy sigh, he got back to work. He knew he should have chosen a different career path, but it was too late for that now.
“It could be worse. We could be held hostage by someone who actually knew what they were doing.” Jett said to Dori.
Laughing, she started singing. “If he only had a brain.”
They had been locked in a room for three days now, but nothing bad had happened to them.
“I will say I was scared at first when the room started filling up with green smoke, but I wouldn’t mind it happening again.”
Dori agreed. “Floating in the air was a lot of fun, and then seeing Drake’s face when he looked through the window was too funny. I don’t think he was too happy about us somersaulting through the air and laughing.”
“How about the pinata that he had us break open. His face was priceless when all kinds of candy fell out of it. I may be wrong, but with the way he stomped out of here and slammed the door, I don’t think he intended for candy to come out. Here, I will trade you a snickers for a peanut butter cup.”
Dori handed him the peanut butter cup as they kept chatting.
Drake slammed his fist down on the desk. How dare they laugh at him! Have they no heart? He had kept them well fed, for he didn’t want them getting sick, and the thanks he gets is them mocking him.
They didn’t know he had a secret device in the room, enabling him to hear them.
At least he had managed to do that right. He had thought the pinata spell would be frightenly perfect, that he would hear them scream. Thousands of spiders should have fallen out of it, not candy!
The sun would start going down soon, and Drake still hadn’t been able to come up with anything monstrous to do to his victims. Nothing was going right. The planned experiments he had wanted to try on them were all failing.
Ahh! He turned another page in his book. Maybe this experiment would work. He felt hope rising again in his chest until he read the last item that was needed. Where would he find that?
He headed outside, doubtful he would find it, but he had to try.
There it was! A shout of joy came out of his lips. Perhaps his luck was changing at last.
Not only had he found a cowbell, but it was a shiny gold one! In the book, it is called for a rusty, silver cowbell. But if a rusty, silver cowbell wouldn’t a gold sparkling one work even better?
Of course it would. And the stupid people had the nerve to say he didn’t have a brain. HA! He would show them.
Picking it up, he was careful not to ring it. He wanted his victims to ring it.
“You two are trying my patience! One of you ring the stupid bell.” He stood before them holding out the bell.
Dori looked at Jett, “Let’s ring it together.”
Jett agreed, and they both grabbed hold of it.
Drake stepped behind the door to watch through the glass, rubbing his hands together with an evil laugh.
They rang it. Purple and pink smoke filled the air!
The book hadn’t said anything about purple and pink smoke.
Waiting for the smoke to disappear, he burst into the room. No way! This was impossible to believe! Where had they gone! His victims had disappeared along with the smoke. Nooo! He cried, grabbing his head in despair.
Running outside, he looked all around and saw no one.
Shrieking filled the air. He covered his ears as a hundred flying monkeys swooped through the air.
“Oh sure, now you all come! Where were you before when I tried calling you. My victims are gone now. Heyyy… let me alone, you idiots! Not me!!”
The monkeys claws sank deep into his shoulders. and they paid him no mind, flying away with their captive.
Meanwhile, Jett and Dori had landed in the middle of … a dazzling kingdom. They stepped out of their carriage and were immediately hailed as the King and Queen of the munchkins and the oompas loompas. The clock struck midnight, and all was well as Jett and Dori watched their carriage turn into a giant pumpkin.
Write a six word spooky story … or be a rule breaker and write a longer one … Share it in the comments …
Orange fluff dessert … On the menu tonight…. Yay, Nay, or Never Tried…

Important date today … Isn’t printed on calenders, but my life wouldn’t be near as WONDERFUL and I would most definitely have gone crazy by now, if not for my Sweet and Sassy Sister who celebrates her Birthday today!! ❤️

Of all the things he had imagined doing on his day off, finding Dori had not been one of them!
He hadn’t seen her since she was little. What was she doing here? The last he knew, she had moved to Kansas. He wouldn’t have recognized her if she hadn’t said her name before drifting back to sleep?
A yawn escaped from Jett and another one. His eyes began to feel heavy. Why was he feeling sleepy? He wiped his eyes.
The flowers sure had a strong fragrance to them. He had a lot of questions for Dori. Maybe he would sit in the grass and wait for her to wake up. If he left, how would he know how to find her again?
Ooh, that was a big yawn. He should stand up. If he fell asleep and she woke up, she might leave.
Yes, he would stand up. Why wouldn’t his legs move?
The flowers smelled so …
Jett’s eyes closed.
Yes! Finally, some people had succumbed to the spell of the enchanted field of dreams.
Drake had begun to give up hope of anyone coming to the field. He thought he would need to find another way to catch some victims. Fortunately, he had a potion, he drank to protect him from succumbing to the deep sleep enchantment. Being a mad scientist came in handy.
It took some time to get them into his truck, but he managed. Drake drove back to his dark castle, thinking of how he now had all he needed to try a new experiment this weekend.
He would have to make sure to keep these new test subjects away from Frankie. That was one experiment that hadn’t turned out as expected. He hoped this one would have much more positive results!
Adrenalin began pulsating through him. Giddy with joy, he couldn’t wait to get started. Smiling in expectation, he turned up the song Monster Mash, playing on the radio.

There was no one around on that November day. When the leaves had fallen and the days were cooler. Winter waited around the corner.
No one to see , no one to hear. As far as Justin could tell, it was the perfect setting. He couldn’t have asked for a better day. Fortune was shining down on him, he thought. It was about time.
Rubbing his hands together with a conspiratorial grin, he justified what he was about to do. Nothing was stopping him. Nothing was in his way. He had the right to do this.
Wearing a smug expression and a swagger in his step, he made his way to Lacey’s Bakery.
The only thing that could ruin his plan was if Lacey had changed the locks. He felt pretty confident that she had forgotten all about the one time she gave him the key.
She had been sick that day and needed him to pick up a special order for delivery.
Being the smart man he was, he had quickly gotten a copy of the key made. Now, it was about to come in real handy.
You are so sly, my man. He smirked.
Justin had never thought of robbing her before, but after she dumped him, it served her right.
The aroma of the bakery tantilized his taste buds when he opened the door. He stood there for a little with the door open.
Meow!
The black cat walked in the open door like he owned the place. Justin didn’t care about the cat. He was too busy looking at all of the sweet baked goods.
The cat jumped up on a cat tree beside the register and made himself at home .
Hmm… was this Lacey’s cat? It acted like it was right at home. Maybe she had bought a cat after she broke up with Justin.
It wasn’t simply a stray, for it had an emerald green pendant around its neck. How many cats wore pendants around their necks? Kind of crazy to buy a pendant for a cat if you asked him.
Looking around, Justin eyed the banana cream pie behind the glass. He decided he would help himself to it. He missed Lacey’s sweet treats. Her kisses had been sweet, too, but he had Jackie now.
Not wanting to press his luck and take too long, he only grabbed a few more pastries.
The afternoon siesta would be over soon, and Lacey would be back.
There wasn’t a whole lot of cash in the register, but it would be enough to cover expenses. He was planning on taking his new girl out on the town. His heart beat with anticipation, to have her close to him again.
Times were rough since he had been fired from his job. He had only been late to work six times. Who would have known that they would raise such a fuss about it. Didn’t they give new employees a break? He had only been there for two weeks!
Jackie was used to being wined and dined. He couldn’t simply start taking her to cheaper restaurants. What would she think?
This was why he needed money. He had treated Lacey to fine dining as well when he was with her. One would think she would have been more appreciative. But nooo…she told him she needed a guy with character and standards.
What did she mean? He had standards! Why did she think he took her to fancy restaurants. Justin rolled his eyes and shoved the money into his wallet. He would never understand some women.
Looking out the door and seeing the coast was clear, he walked out into the crisp air. It had grown more blustery. Winter was at his heels.
Sitting in the jail cell, Justin felt like screaming!
Stupid cat! Who had ever heard of a guard cat? He couldn’t rid Lacey’s smug expression from his mind when she had shown him the tiny camera around Winter’s neck.
Happy Tuesday! How is your day going? I have a list of things I wanted to get done today. So far, I did one. LOL! How productive has your day been? Write down “Read Carolyn’s quotes post,” and at least you will be able to scratch one thing from your list. 🙂 Have a wonderful day, and thanks for reading. Always appreciated!

Here is the conclusion to Thursday’s post, A Night of Surprises

It took a while for Henrietta to digest all that Elsa was telling her. They really did have trouble.
Meanwhile, Elsa’s new friend, Peone, was eyeing Henrietta with suspicion. It didn’t take too long for her to come to the conclusion that Henrietta was a kind woman, and she bravely approached, letting Henrietta pet her as Elsa kept talking.
With Henrietta petting her, she felt warm all over. It brought back memories of the wonderful couple that had taken such good care of her. She had trained them well and had been proud to live with them.
She loved and missed them since crossing the bridge, though she was having a lot of fun. But she would never forget their love for her. She was a lucky dog. Her mind began to drift to memories, and then she was brought back by the serious tone in Elsa’s voice.
“So, do you see how troublesome this is? Our fairies are being snatched away one by one by funny looking creatures hiding in the woods at midnight. What will we do? We can’t lose all of the fairies!”
“Oh, goodness no!” Henrietta cried, “That would be a nightmare if all the fairies disappeared.
There is only one answer. You have to gather your team of Ninja warriors. It’s time for them to fight these troublemakers that dared to come into our woods. No one makes trouble for our little friends and gets away with it! We will send that message out loud and clear. I know you can do it. You are a brave Ninja!”
Pricking up her ears, the little dog stood to her feet. Ninja warrior? It sounded important. She wanted to be one! Puffing out her chest, she gave her most ferocious bark. If Elsa needed her help, she would be willing.
Elsa and the other dogs she had met had all been so kind as they welcomed her to the other side of the bridge. Into the deep, wonderful woods, where they ran and played, eating all kinds of tasty treats!
“Have you started training your new friend yet? Sounds like she wants to help.” Henrietta asked.
“You bet I do!” Peone gave another bark.
Henrietta chuckled at her.
“Don’t laugh at me, I am ferocious.” She thought.
Henrietta rubbed Peone’s head and then directed her attention to Elsa,
“You don’t have much time, five hours until midnight. I believe in you. Go, save the fairies!”
Henrietta’s praise made Elsa feel 10 feet tall.

It was the same way she had felt when she had lived with her wonderful human, Monika. All the times she lavished praise on her. Elsa had loved Monika dearly and still did.
Swelling with pride, Elsa knew that she would do her best to make Monika proud. Of course, she may stir up some trouble as well before this night was over. But Monika would expect nothing less, from her sweet “knucklehead.”
She stood up on her hind legs and started practicing her kicks when, “Oww!”
“Hey, watch where you are kicking? You almost kicked me.”
Elsa looked down at her stinging paw. Had that little runt nipped her?
Peone was showing her white teeth and not looking ashamed at all or even one bit afraid of Elsa looming over her.
Smiling, Elsa apologized for almost kicking her, thinking to herself that Henrietta may be right, this little runt may make a feisty warrior.
“We don’t have much time. Are you ready to take a crash course in being a Ninja?”

“Yes!” She yipped with a serious face.
With haste, Elsa and Peone made their way to the training headquarters, where Queen Abby reigned.

It had been a few years now since she had crossed the bridge. Her sweet human, Karen,( not to be confused with the bad Karens out there), had trained her well for a life of luxury.
“Your Highness, I would like to request your permission to summon the Ninja warriors. We need to rescue the fairies.”
Queen Abby had a big caring heart, like her human, and was quick to give her permission.
Peone looked with awe at the pictures that were on the wall of Abby in her ninja days.

Queen Abby looked down at Peone with tenderness.
“Elsa has talked highly of you and how quick you are. You will be an asset to the Ninjas, of that I am sure. I know Knight Ray would agree. He is out resting in the garden right now. His favorite place to be.”
Peone tried not to tremble. The queen was complimenting her. She didn’t want to let anyone down. Was she really up to this, or had she bit off more than she could chew?
“Follow me. We will start your training with Lily, pronto!”
Ready or not, it was time. Peone couldn’t back out now. She was brave she could do this.
She had met Lily before, but seeing her now in full armor was a bit intimidating.

Only for a brief moment did Peone tremble, and then she envisioned her humans’ kind faces, and that was all she needed. “I am doing this for you, mom and dad. I love you.”
Courage filled her, and after a couple hours of intense lessons, she was ready! Elsa had called her a quick learner. Having her own sword helped to boost her confidence.
“Hiya!!” She swung the sword only to have Elsa frown at her.

“Hey, knucklehead. Watch it with the sword!”
Peone lowered her gaze and muttered sorry.
Elsa smiled to herself, saying the word “Knucklehead” waa kind of fun. No wonder her mom had smirked when she would call Elsa that due to getting into mischief. But what fun was it if one didn’t get into mischief sometimes. Thinking of those mischievous times made Elsa crave a wool sock. She wondered if Peone had chewed socks as well. If not, she would have to teach her.
Would have to hunt for some wool another time. Now it was time for action! The brave ninjas were ready!
They gathered together as Lassie bestowed her blessing on them. The Fairy Rescue Operation was underway!

The battle was tough, but the ninja warriors didn’t give up, and in the end, all the fairies were rescued. There was much rejoicing throughout the woodland kingdom!
One fairy came personally to Peone to thank her.

Peone had rescued her right out of the ogres clutches. The ogre had dared to laugh at Peone, and that riled her up. He didn’t know who he was messing with.
Peone made sure he would be sorry, and he was. She slashed his leg with her sword and bit his little toe. He screamed in pain all the way home.
When Queen Abby had heard of how brave Peone had been in going against a ginormous ogre, she bestowed upon her a special honor. Gave her a purple heart medal. Peone wore it with pride.
All were happy, and there was a merry celebration all night long.
Elsa had found some discarded wool socks and was enjoying a feast, wondering where Peone had disappeared too.
“Hey Elsa! Look at me!”
Elsa heard her, but where was she. Her eyes roamed all over.
“Look up!”

That crazy knucklehead. Where did she get that broom from ? It looked like fun!
“Wait for me!” Elsa called as she jumped into the air.

**In tribute to my friend’s sweet Peone who recently crossed Rainbow Bridge and the other precious dogs out there who have crossed. All the dogs in the story are real, though I don’t know if they are actually dressed in Ninja outfits. We have loved and missed them, but I like to think that they are having a wonderful time!**
55 days until my heart is soaring … in a jet … but who is counting! … I won’t keep you hanging, and since two readers almost guessed the exact answer, I will tell …. at the end of this post ….
Not all “Little Libraries” have books … I found one with bottles of freshly made honey … Pooh Bear would have taken all the bottles! What would you like to see in a Little Library besides books? Pictures coming soon of my Little Library and name revealed.
My Friday’s post from a little while back about being “wonderfully you” … and part of my psychological report was really well received … What is another subject you would enjoy seeing a post about? It can be anything but politics!
Treating myself to Pa dutch Sweet Baloney lunch meat this week … If you have never had any, you need to!!
My heart will be soaring in the air on December 17th as I wait at the airport for my son’s plane to land!!! Yes, he and his girlfriend will be home for Christmas!! ❤️💚❤️💚❤️

So much to do… so little time. The day was passing by quickly. Henrietta hurried down the path with her faithful cat, Licorice, beside her.
There was a gentle breeze on this pleasant autumn day. She smacked her lips as she thought of the tasty pies that she would make with her basket of berries.
Slowing down some, she got a better grip on the basket. If she ended up spilling them due to her haste, her mom’s favorite quote would prove true. “Haste makes waste.”
Calming her breathing, she walked the rest of the way home. It wasn’t like she was a spring chicken anymore. Running was no longer something her body wanted to do. Though if she was honest, her body pretty much had rejected running from the time she was born!
When she got home, she was ready for a nap, but that would have to wait. There were berry-licous pies to make.
Putting the fourth and final pie in the oven, Henrietta closed the oven door and was glad to sit down.
The kitchen felt toasty warm, and the sweet aroma made her hungry.
She fixed herself a turkey club sandwich with some macaroni salad and deviled eggs.
Licorice was stretched out on the carpet, taking a snooze. He was probably dreaming of the squirrels he had chased in the woods.
It felt like she had only closed her eyes for a moment when she heard the oven timer going off.
Getting up off the couch, she opened the door and took out the fourth pie. It looked perfect.
Looking at the clock, she was glad to see that there were still two hours until the special ceremony tonight.
That would give her time to change out of her raggedy clothes into something nicer.
Hearing a MEOW, Henrietta looked and chuckled at Licorice. He had been curious about her hat on the floor and stuck his head in it. Now he couldn’t get it off.
“Oh, you silly cat.” She took it off his head, and he ran off.
“You are welcome,” she called out after him, holding the hat in her hands.
She had been told the hat had belonged to Gandalf, an old wise wizard from long ago. Most likely, the person selling the hat to her had only told her that in an effort to get more money out of her. Henrietta hadn’t fallen for it and didn’t give her a penny more than what the sticker on it had said.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Henrietta said, “Mirror Mirror, on the wall, I may not be the fairest of them all, but I am looking pretty good!”
She twirled around a couple of times in her rose colored dress, felt dizzy, and almost fell down. Growing old was not for sissies! Gone were the days of spinning in circles around and around for fun.
Running a brush through her hair one more time, she slipped into her rose colored flat shoes. Gone were the days of wearing heels, unless she wanted to break her ankle again.
Packing up the pies into her big orange canvas bag, she put some catnip out for Licorice and stepped outside.
Suddenly, two dogs came charging through the woods, barking loud. They stopped when they saw Henrietta. Well, the poodle stopped barking. The little black dog didn’t stop until Elsa, the ninja dog, gave her a look.
“Hi Elsa! Is something wrong? Who is your tiny friend?”
The dachshund gave Henrietta a side eye glare.
“We have trouble.” Elsa replied.
