Adventures of Beep, Poppet and Noodle

This, that and the other

Time is flying, but standing still at the same time.  January and February were long months!  We got a lot accomplished in the classroom.  I'm so very grateful that I've had students in the classroom all school year.  We did have to do four days of distance learning when a lot of the staff had COVID.  We just plain ran out of subs.  After that, it's been pretty much smooth sailing as far as school goes.  Now we're down to less than six weeks left!  Yikes!  Still so much material to cover.

My Experience with COVID
sclmarm

Almost two weeks ago on a Thursday afternoon I felt really achy and had a bit of a head ache.  I went home, took some Advil and went to bed.  About half way through the night I was chilled to the bone.  I do keep my room cold, 50's, but I never felt this cold.  I turned up my heated throw to bake, warmed up and fell asleep.  We are a four day a week school, and it wasn't a work Friday, so I was able to stay home.  I was running a fever over 100 and was very achy.  From that point on I started feeling a bit better every day.  Every day I was able to get up, shower and get dressed.  Sunday I went out to the farm to feed the sheep and took the dogs for a jog while I drove the side-by-side.

Monday a two co-workers tested positive and we went distance learning.  Just so you know, distance learning sucks!  Such a variety of levels of getting their work done and not a lot that I can do about the ones that aren't.  10 adults ended up getting it.  When we asked our kids about how they felt, most were fine.  I did have one that had a fever and head ache for a couple days and my grand daughters had head aches for a couple days, other than that, the kids were not effected even though most of the staff had it.

So Over It!

I've been thinking and I'm really over COVID.  Not that being over it, will change my life much, but I'm really not willing to waste anymore time or energy thinking about it anymore.

Doing Stuff Again!

After a long drought of nothing going on, things are starting to ramp up again.  March-July felt like an endless loop of Nana School and working dogs.  Then we didn't have Nana School anymore and it was working dogs and that was about it.

1 Year and 200 Days
sclmarm

Beckit/Schmeckit has been part of the pack for a year now!  Wow!  That went fast!  She was about six months old when she came and now 18 months.  She's a fun and slightly ridiculous little girl.  She fit in well and even Poppet gets along with her.  She loves people and kids.  She follows my girlfriends around and gets super excited when they come over.  Her only faults are licking and she can be pouty when working and she licks.  The pouty thing is annoying and I'm hoping she outgrows that!

Nana School

I volunteered to take the Reynolds kids while we aren't having school in a school building.  Meagan is doing college online and needs some time without people and I thought it was a way to keep busy myself and get a good feeling for how it would go.  The good thing is that I've had Maddy and now William in my classroom.  We have established a student/teacher relationship, which makes it much easier.  Trying to do stuff with my girlfriends, Nat and Biff makes me realize that I don't want to be a preschool teacher!  Ha!  They are pretty independent, so when I need to help William and Maddy, they'll go play with the dogs or get into stuff. I started posting daily updates on Facebook, but wanted to preserve them here.

Virus and 100 Days
sclmarm

The corono 19 has really changed things for a lot of people.  Here in Idaho, we were one of the last states to have any cases.  When it finally showed up here the last week before spring break made that week a roller coaster.  We ended up going with kids Wednesday until 1.  The teacher's then spent Wednesday afternoon Thursday putting together eight days worth of math and reading.  Whew!  Those were delivered along with lunch and breakfast to the students this Monday. They sent the buses, all two of them, to deliver meals and the packets.  I've had a few questions, but for the most part, it seems that it's going smoothly.  I really tried to make it easy to understand!

To Spay or Not to Spay

We survived Beckit's first heat.  Rooster did loose his head for a few days and that was hard.  Slutty Beckit, wasn't much better.  I'm really leaning towards spaying her though.  Since she came in now, she should go back into heat around May/June.  That's prime do stuff with your dog time!  It would be hard to take her and Rooster to trials in the little travel trailer, especially if she was in a standing heat.  I don't know if I'd want her out in public at that time either. Seems like a giant hassle.  It's not like there's a shortage of nicely bred Border Collies either.  I don't have a stable of dogs, to where I can skip some trials with her and just take a different dog.  Hmmmm.... sure looks like the pro side of the list is longer and the con.

2019

It began the fourth year as an Idahoian.  I still love it here!  The only thing I don't like is August!  Such a hot month!  Yikes!  Oh and rattlesnakes! Other than that is was a good year!

Sleddin and Sheddin
sclmarm

The month of December is always so busy at school.  Christmas programs, mid year testing, trip to the old folks home, Christmas projects, staff party as well as trying to get to a good stopping point in the curriculum with children whose minds are already partially gone on break.  Oh, and preparing report cards so that the Friday before break I don't have to go in.  I made it and enjoyed having that Friday to rest up a bit and get a little practice in before the Sleddin and Sheddin trial in Parma.
