The Chicago Bears added a new defensive player via trade on Thursday from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for draft pics. The timing couldn’t have been more impactful as the team makes their way to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
From the Bears website: The Chicago Bears announced that the club has acquired three-time AP All-Pro defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons in a trade with the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2027 first-round selection, a 2028 first-round selection and a 2027 fourth-round selection. The Bears will also receive a 2028 fifth-round selection from Tennessee.
This puts the Bears back into all kinds of post season expectations. The Bears sit at 5-2, having lost division games to both the Vikings and Packers. They are currently in second place in the NFC North.
Simmons no doubt will make an immediate impact on the defensive line that will send ripple effects through the entire defense. Opposing Quarterbacks will likely have less time to throw and the defense should be able to get more 3 and outs, creating more opportunities for the offense.
