THE HUNCHBACK, SOUL OF PARIS (2026): New Trailer From Vincent Cassel, Benjamin Voisin, Jean-François Richet…

Directed by Jean-François Richet, The Hunchback, Soul of Paris is a new drama based on celebrated French writer Victor Hugo’s Gothic novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Set in Paris, France, in 1830, as cholera threatens to ravage the city, the story follows a hunchback hunted for medical experiments while he’s caught between political turmoil and impossible love.

The key cast includes Vincent Cassel, Benjamin Voisin, Daphné Patakia and director Jean-François Richet.

I haven’t watched the Disney version of this story in quite some time. And I must admit that the main reason I’m interested in this retelling is that I love Paris, my beloved City of Light.

My French is unreservedly disastrous, yes. But I have a feeling I’ll be able to follow the story relatively well, even without subtitles. The little voice in my head just shouted, ‘Nonsense!’ But I’m choosing to ignore that.

How much does this retelling of the classic story appeal to you?

Daphné Patakia, Karim Leklou, Noémie Lvovsky, Quentin D’Hainaut, Sébastien Pouderoux, Rudgy Pajany Rudgy Pajany and Loly Toublanc also star.

The Hunchback, Soul of Paris Release Dates: November 27th, 2026 (UK & US), Netflix…

ANIMALS (2026): The Things I Liked…

Did I enjoy Animals, Kerry Washington and Ben Affleck’s latest kidnapping thriller? In parts, yes. Did the scenes showing the anguish felt by the parents of a kidnapped child prove quite harrowing and taxing to watch? Absolutely, yes.

Yet, I don’t regret making time for Animals, largely because of Gillian Anderson’s presence. For me, the lady could not have been more mesmerising.

Affleck and Washington didn’t do badly, along with Luis Gerardo Méndez, who plays Ramon. Nevertheless, kidnapping stories tend to follow generally predictable patterns, leaving little room for newness.

Except, of course, through exceptional performances and well-executed scenes. In Animals, Anderson’s performance and the excitement of the final scenes certainly help. But while those highlights made the film worth my time, they weren’t quite enough to make me insist that you see it.

Of course, if you’re especially curious, you do what you must.

Jane Austen’s classic tale of love between a wealthy landowner and the spirited Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice, is getting another retelling in the shape of a six-episode miniseries.

Created by Dolly Alderton, the cast includes Jack Lowden, Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin and Rufus Sewell.

This is looking wonderfully charming and humorous, isn’t it?

I waited quite a while for this trailer to land. The teaser trailer that came before felt too insubstantial to feature. Now, I can say that this sumptuous-looking new edit was truly worth the wait.

The cast is great, of course. But I’m excited for the cinematography, the costumes and the dialogue.

In fact, I’m not sure that the classic Austen story has ever looked so appealing. And that’s really saying something, considering the many adaptations over the years. More than a dozen, apparently.

Have your eyes enjoyed this feast as well?

Daryl McCormack, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Louis Partridge, Freya Mavor, Jasmine Blackborow, Rhea Norwood, Anjana Vasan, Isabella Sermon, Liz Kingsman, Rosie Cavaliero and Sebastian Armesto also star.

Pride and Prejudice Release Dates: December 3rd, 2026 (US & UK)…

THE RESCUE (2027): New Trailer Starring Brandon Sklenar, Hassie Harrison, Josh Duhamel…

Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, The Rescue stars Brandon Sklenar, as a rodeo cowboy searching for his missing daughter.

Hassie Harrison and Josh Duhamel are among the key cast.

The Taken (2008) vibes are strong with this one.

I’m interested in the new setting of this classic story, and committed to seeing the resolution.

Fingers crossed that the dialogue won’t stick in my mind for all the wrong reasons.

The Rescue Release Dates: January 29th, 2027 (US)…

ELSINORE (2026): New Trailer Starring Andrew Scott, Olivia Colman, Billie Piper…

Andrew Scott, Billie Piper and Olivia Colman star in Elsinore, a new Simon Stone-directed biographical drama about Ian Charleson.

Charleson is an actor determined to give the performance of his life while facing incredible odds.

The compartmentalisation, vision and conviction have me most intrigued.

Scott likely needed a major emotional detox after playing this role. I look forward to witnessing the journey.

Monica Dolan, David Webber, David Rintoul, Paul Chahidi, Alyth Ross and John Hollingworth also star.

Elsinore Release Dates: December 2026 (US); January 29th, 2027 (UK)…
