Springtime with Grandma L.

Image
We were so happy to have Grandma come and visit this Spring.  Even more exciting was that she was able to stay for Easter!!!  I love having family visit for holidays! Some of the thing we did during her short stay: We went to the International Festival at the kids school where we ate food from many different countries.  It was delicious.  The girls decided to stay at the festival while we took Nicholas to the Embassy Easter Egg hunt in the snow. Although it doesn't look cold, I lost feeling in my extremities.  It was freezing.  Because of the weather a lot fewer people showed up than expected so the amount of eggs to collect rose from the original amount of 12 to however many could fit in the basket. We visited Keukenhoff in Holland to see the beautiful flowers.  While we did see beautiful flowers, most of them were indoors as it has been a very cold spring.   Flower Fashion Outside the crocus' were blooming and the...

I drive a tank

The first year we lived in Brussels I cursed our car. It's too big.  Parking is too hard, it won't fit in the garage, roads are too narrow, etc. etc., etc. But this car, it seems to know it will win any fight.  Ryan was in an accident a few months ago and the other car was crushed.  Our bumper is askew and we should probably have it fixed, but it's such a small thing we haven't bothered. Today it was in another accident.  The car that hit me has major problems and will need a lot of work done.  Pieces of it were strewn across the road and I felt bad as I heard the crunch as others drove over the stray parts.  My car has a scratch. Last month it hit a car, and I say it because no one was even in the car when it slid into another one. No damage occurred. It's a beast that's tough to park in the small spaces and drive on the narrow roads, but the large size can be advantageous.

Temple Trip

Image
Lindsay went to the temple for the first time and since the temple closest to us is in The Netherlands and we would be gone for a long time we took the little guy with us.  I miss the days when I had family and friends willing to take an extra kid for the day but he was a champ and waited in the waiting room by himself for hours.  It won't be long before he's old enough to go inside with us.  They grow up so fast.

Vacation with Lynda and Josh

Image
When Lynda and Josh arrived I ended up not being the best host and said , "Welcome to our home.  I need to clear the laundry off the guest room bed and make it, I'm hoping you don't need a nap yet.  Just leave your suitcases in the hall for now."  Luckily they had no other place to stay and I'm hoping they have forgiven my lack or preparation for their visit.  We'll see if it comes up again 20 years from now. They came bearing gifts of hair care products and nail polish.  14 bottles of nail polish!  We won't run out any time soon.  While we can buy those things here she brings the good stuff.  Maybe that's why we always look so good.  (insert laughter here) Lynda wanted to spend some time in the Netherlands, so I found a place on a farm for us to stay for a few days.  For me the best vacations are the ones where I'm not surrounded by lots of people, have a place to run around uninhibited and a good dose of sunshine.  We found th...
