Best of October, 2026

The weather was real great,

fall colors appeared early and stayed late.

Farms, mazes, parks and big trees,

river, mood phases, twists and turns 180 degrees.

Powell Butte

Work : Annual party with Max BP, fun time with coworkers, when after a nice lunch together you can spend a day touring the soccer stadium and taking a boat ride. This time in a bigger company, and you know what, we are still hiring so check us out if you are interested.

More work : Subbing was cool, I did a few different assignments, they were fun especially the final part when I took three days of Health / PE. It’s a lot more work than usual, because you teach an academic class in the morning and gym in the afternoon. Still a great deal of fun considering that you have to use your body and your brain all in one day.

Mt. Tabor Park

Fun: Last week we watched a movie, so I call it the movie of the month, The Princess Bride (1987), a sweet fairy tale about love and friendship with good bits of humor here and there. Nice pick for the whole family. Happy ending guaranteed.

Food: I tried some new recipes, one of them is chicken pineapple salad. I don’t know if you ever tried it but I highly recommend, with the usual chicken, pineapple, mayo, and eggs I used some mustard and jalapenos. The recipe calls for cheese but mine was cheese-less, since it already had enough protein, IMO.

My garden yellow star

New beginning : This month of October made me think of all things metaphysical, I found two new meetup groups, one online and another in person. Both are led by Sarah, each one of them is a young medicine woman, one from California and another one from Oregon. Due to good organizers and fun locations I met new folks and learned a lot about art, magic and group therapy. The groups appeal to artists and thinkers, who are ready to seek, learn and grow.

More fun : After reading a few works by Herman Hesse I found an interesting audiobook on YouTube, it’s called The Path to Authenticity: All of Herman Hesse’s Philosophy. It’s truly insightful, if you are into philosophy and psychology. It offers a good explanation to a modern day problems of depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.

Mt. Tabor photo walk

I decided to shoot film today, because the weather is nice and trees are turning. I used Olympus pen, it’s a beginner friendly little toy.

On top of using my camera I used my phone as well, it’s a habit on the one hand, on the other hand I can’t wait for the photos to be made. Do I decided to do both and compare. I tried using a digital camera earlier which I didn’t like mostly because the difference between the camera and the phone was so minimal, you can’t tell most of the time.

So this time I’m shooting film, it’s an experiment. I wanna do it also because this is what my husband does and he says it makes him real happy. He also knows cameras , I don’t. I just mess with the pen because it’s quick and easy.

  • Have you ever shot film? Did you like it?
  • What camera did you use?
