Meet the Members Behind the Camera

The person you choose matters as much as the photography style you choose.

Since 2002, the Wedding Photojournalist Association has connected couples with creative wedding photographers known for authentic moments, genuine emotion and visual storytelling. WPJA members bring their own personalities and photographic styles to weddings of every scale, from intimate celebrations and elopements to larger wedding days, as well as engagement sessions, creative portraits and artistic detail photography.

A documentary wedding photographer knows when to move closer, when to work quietly in the background and when an important moment is beginning to unfold. The goal is not to turn your wedding into a photo shoot, but to create a meaningful photographic story while you experience the day.

Browse the portraits below to meet WPJA members, explore their photography and full galleries, compare styles, and discover a wedding photographer whose way of seeing feels right for you.

The Authenticity of Wedding Photojournalism

Made to share today. Made to matter tomorrow.

Wedding photojournalism is built around a simple idea: some of the most meaningful photographs happen when nobody planned them.

Long before wedding-day content became part of the conversation, WPJA photographers were documenting celebrations as they naturally unfolded. They anticipate real moments, genuine emotions and fleeting interactions, then preserve them with the timing, composition and craft of professional photography.

Today's couples have more ways than ever to capture and share their wedding. We think that's a good thing. But there is a difference between recording what happened and creating a lasting visual story of what it felt like to be there.

Since 2002, WPJA has recognized photographers with the documentary instincts, artistic skill and professional standards to create that record.

More than content. A record of how it felt.

Explore Venues Through Real Weddings

See the places you're considering through photographs made there.

Use the search box at the top of the site to look up a city, town or venue by name. Your search can lead to venue pages featuring real wedding photography created at those locations by WPJA members.

Go beyond empty rooms and styled promotional photographs to see venues during actual weddings, filled with people, movement, weather, emotion and celebration.

Explore venue ideas, compare photographic styles and discover photographers who have already documented weddings in the places you're considering.

ISO - Find Wedding Photography Where You're Getting Married

Start with your location. Discover the photographers and photographs connected to it.

ISO means In Search Of, and it is WPJA's keyword-driven wedding photography search. Enter the region, city, town or location where you're planning to marry and explore photography created by WPJA members in and around that place.

Instead of browsing wedding inspiration disconnected from your own plans, ISO can lead you from a location to real photographs, related galleries and the photographers who created them. Search broadly by country or region, narrow your search to a city or town, or explore the names of places and locations that matter to your wedding.

Location is only the beginning. ISO also connects thousands of wedding photography subjects and ideas. Search for ceremonies, elopements, rain, dancing, laughter, portraits, architecture, reflections, flowers, mountains, beaches, city streets, quiet moments and more.

Follow one photograph into a related gallery, move from one idea or location to another, compare visual approaches, and discover WPJA members through the work they have actually created.

You don't need to know the name of a photography style or even the name of a photographer before you begin.

Start with where you're getting married. Find photographs you love. Discover who made them.

WPJA Contest Photos - September 5th, 2026

WPJA Documentary Wedding Photography Awards

The moments couldn't be repeated. The photographs don't need to be explained.

Since 2002, WPJA has recognized photographers who find exceptional images within real wedding-day events, from major moments to fleeting reactions and stories that might otherwise go unnoticed.

An important part of that tradition is who evaluates the work. WPJA contests are judged by respected photojournalists, picture editors and visual professionals. WPJA judges have been recognized by their industry peers, including for work as staff photojournalists, picture editors and newsroom mentors at leading publications and journalism organizations.

That independent judging has been central to WPJA awards from the beginning, recognizing photographs for timing, composition, emotion and storytelling rather than popularity.

Explore recent award recipients and discover photographers with the awareness, skill and visual instincts to preserve moments that happen only once.

Creative Wedding Portraiture, Details and Sense of Place

Documentary photographers can make extraordinary portraits, too.

A reportage or documentary approach to wedding photography does not mean giving up creative portraits, beautiful details or artistic experimentation.

The WPJA Artistic Guild recognizes photographers who bring imagination, composition and visual craft to wedding-day portraits, details and artistically enhanced photography.

Explore the creative side of WPJA members whose documentary instincts and artistic vision can both contribute to a complete wedding story.
