Inside APT

Board and Staff

APT is managed by its Board of Directors and its staff. Service on the APT Board of Directors provides opportunities to network with the leaders in the profession and develop lifelong professional and personal relationships.

Committees

APT has 21 committees that manage its functions and execute APT's strategic plan. These standing, strategic, and advisory committees, which include Board members and other APT members, meet at the annual conference and semi-annual board meetings, and communicate regularly in between.

Chapters

Chapters are essential to APT's mission of advancing technology in conserving the built environment. They promote research, training, and information related to technology and preservation. Additionally, chapters offer local communities opportunities to connect with other professionals through social gatherings, tours, and seminars on regional topics.

Resources

  • Building Technology Heritage Library

    The Building Technology Heritage Library (BTHL) is primarily a collection of architectural trade catalogs, house plan books, and technical building guides. Trade catalogs are an important primary source to document past design and construction practices. These materials can aid in the preservation and conservation of older structures as well as other research goals. The BTHL is hosted by the Internet Archive as a free public access site for documents in the public domain.

  • APT Publications

    APT regularly publishes the APT Bulletin, Practice Points, and Communique. APT also has a long history of publishing books and other special publications.

  • Job Board

    APT maintains a job board to match open positions with people looking for these opportunities.
