Be Still (reissue)likethis
likethis have been doing fine work reissuing Eddie Richards gems from his peerless vaults and he often gives them a fresh lick of paint for the occasion, as he did with these two tunes, which came out back in January but soon disappeared. Thankfully, we're treated to a repress on 180 gram vinyl. 'Be Still' (revisit) is first and is one of those grooves you lean back for - the drums are seductive and persuasive rather than overly forceful and are laced with pads that only heighten the breezy effect. 'AbsurED' is tougher, with swinging 909s that are deep but jacked and brought to life with spoken words and blasts of bold bass.

Northern Exposure: Redux (South) (30th Anniversary Edition) (remastered)Late Night Tales
Northern Exposure: Redux recaptures Sasha & Digweed's foundational epic-progressive DJ mix on revamped vinyl. Alongside the full triple CD reissue, Late Night Tales have chosen to split the vinyl versions into the original three directionally themed mixes and put out each as individual records, of course out of respect for sound fidelity. Here we've the South mix on its own, which houses all from the original DJ mix, minus a small change: Darren Emerson's 2026 'Dark Train' version of 'Dark And Long', a new substitution for the Underworld original that first appeared in 1994. The rest are select, heads-only tracks, supplying free-thinking rave sprawlouts like Banco De Gaia, Castle Trancelott and Rabbit In The Moon, and they appear here in their original unmixed form as was the case with the original LPs.

BaddaLion Charge
Michael Greene spent his childhood Saturdays at record fairs with his collector dad from the age of eight, and all those influences he must have picked up still bubble through in his work years. He heads up his own Cin Cin label these days from his base in Berlin, but here he returns to Rawax with warm, quietly stylish house tracks with silky chords and rubbery grooves. 'Sunlight' gently lifts you off your feet, 'Hows Music?' Has a sparkle to it for more late-night moments under the lights and 'Moonlight' gets a little deeper without forgoing the musicality that makes Greene's work pop.

Jasper James - Wax Trax Vol 1

Wax Trax Vol 1Chiwax Germany
Glasgow's former Sub Club resident Jasper James heads to CHIWAX for his own new series of jacked up and prickly house bangers. 'Back 2 Jack' does throw it back to the dirty, sleazy sounds of early Chi Town warehouse cuts, 'X Transmission' then zones out a little with stars that flutter like foil in the wind and wispy cosmic keys, and 'Bass Utility' brings thumping 90s techno drums to the fore with skewed synths that soundtrack your descent into a deep space rave. 'Modem Funk' gets its name from the mad melodies that dart about like they used to inside the obsolete bit of hardware it references. Four imaginative takes on high-impact house.

Larry Manteca - Erotica 70 (Soundtrack)
LP
Erotica 70 (Soundtrack)Four Flies Italy
Larry Manteca dive into the sleazy, stylish world of 1970s Italian cinema on this playful tribute to the soundtracks of commedia sexy - a film genre that defined an era. Jazz flute, analogue synths, loose funk grooves and sultry vocals set the scene while balancing kitsch shag-pile carpet vibes with real musical craft. The Milanese collective draws particular inspiration from Piero Umiliani, whose influence runs through the era's film music and marks his centenary with a nod to the sounds he helped define. Vintage gear, including the Eminent synth and Wurlitzer electric piano, adds to the period feel. A cheeky slice of cinematic funk with plenty of Italian flair.

The Earthly Pleasures EP (reissue)Phonogramme France
French label Phonogramme continues its productive partnership with long-serving Toronto producer Austin Bascom aka Abacus - one that has already brought us a wealth of reissues and previously unheard material. The Earthly Pleasures EP initially landed on 83 West Records way back in 1996 and here returns in remastered form. As it did 30 years ago, the three-tracker begins with 'Sunrayz', a gorgeous chunk of enveloping, rhythmically infectious deep house laden with dreamy pads, elastic jazz-funk bass, held organ chords and wriggling TB-303 acid lines. 'Moonbeamz' has a similar aesthetic with added electric piano solo jazziness, while 'Crazy Hazy Days' is an ultra-deep hip-hop head-nodder smothered in jazzy instrumentation and the deepest of chords.

In The Shadow Of Your ShadowRed Creek Sweden
Serving as the follow up to 2022's remarkable The Long Road North, Swedish post-metal legends Cult Of Luna return with their tenth album In The Shadow Of Your Shadow. Clocking in at a reliably lengthy 71 minutes, this latest monolithic collection of trudging, sludge-indebted riffage and cinematic melancholy features contributions from Joe Duplantier of French groove/post-metal titans Gojira on 'Sadness Will Reign' and gothic folk troubadour David Eugene Edwards of 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand on the epic 11-minute 'One More Day'. From the grinding malevolence of the opening title-track to the saccharine beauty of the shoegazing 'A Way Back', to the lofty 12-minute behemoths of midpoint centrepiece 'Breach' and closer 'Burial', this is the understated post-metal cult at both their most concise and grandiose. A testament to one of the genre's most definitive, refined and astute contributors, who at ten lengthy full-lengths into their career, still resonate with the confidence of newly energised artists.

Secret Serv1ceEarly Morning Malta
Wake up and smell the vibes: Guy J's Early Morning Records eases us into the club season with these three stunning workouts. Unhurried in length and unapologetic in emotion and uplifting feels, Guy really leans into that timeless progressive euphoric vibe he first brokethrough in all those years ago. 'Secret Serv1ce' has that really loaded pregnant plod that wouldn't have gone amiss on Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure series or a Danny Howells set back in the day. Slow and heavy but really insistent and dramatic. Flip for something more upbeat and extensive as 'Placebo' goes into top gear and pumps with glee. Arranged with some really immersive dubby textures and gentle rising synths, there's a Cafe Del Mar feel running throughout as the nagging bleep keeps you locked no matter how emotional things get. Need something that chugs more than hugs? Get straight on 'My Existence' for the final journey of the 12". Heads down, hands up. This is moving music.
