LWB Mother's Day Necklaces

The necklace says it all. I have been wonderfully blessed with an opportunity to partner with Love Without Boundaries in designing and creating a special Mother's Day necklace for them. sunday snapshot {michael}

He turned 10 yesterday. Ten years since that bouncy, blonde boy was placed in my arms.

My only blonde baby.

My only boy who can still pull off wearing red.

His various-shades-of red-headed-brothers just can't manage it quite as well.

Maybe that's why he's all about the Chic@go Bulls.

And M.J.
His friends mostly call him M.J.

And so do his teachers, sometimes.

Or at least they recognize whose paper was turned in with M.J. written on the name line.

Granted, he does have "moves" like M.J. And has been known to score 25-30 points a game.

This boy of mine knows what he loves.

He becomes quite passionate about these things.

Or maybe obsessed :)

He's all about coin collecting, dinosaurs, pot stickers, grilled cheese sandwiches, back scratches and basketball.

He's a stubborn fella.

Plain 'ol bull-headed, sometimes.

His dad says it's because we named him Michael Patrick after his Irish grandfather.

Maybe so...

But underneath all that. He's a softy through and through. And so easy to please.

For his birthday, he itemized a wish list for us with prices and all.

1. a presidential dollar--$1.00
2. a new t-shirt--$5.00
3. a ten dollar bill--$10.00
4. a bag of Swedish fish--$1.00

grand total--$17.00

He's been counting the days til his birthday for well over a month. You know, it's not everyday you get a bag of Swedish fish. We pulled off a few surprises. After all, he was the baby in the family for eight years.

Competitive? Nah.

Cash prize for the MOST green?

Yah, she won.
She shopped.
It's gone.
And yes, she is a bit Irish.

Worksheets

Every night, I review Christian and Michael's learning plans with them. For each subject, they record what they learned that day in school, and what they need to do for homework. In the little box marked history, Michael had written the following:

WORKSH*T DUE ON FRIDAY!

Clearly an innocent mistake on his part, but considering the amount of homework we've done this week, I thought it was fitting (and hilarious)...

When I showed it to Ian, he laughed and said, "amen".

While the various homework assignments were being completed, Jessie and I were having a "discussion" of sorts. Michael piped up with a little wisdom for his sister and said,

"Where would the world be without scolding mothers?" :0

Pot Stickers

Michael came home from school today and pulled this writing assignment out of his backpack. He just beamed with pride :) He needed me to edit it before he could complete his final draft. A classmate had edited it as well. It made me smile...ok, really, it made me laugh out loud. I am including the peer's comments in parentheses. And from my pickiest eater, I present an essay on Michael's FAVORITE food...POT STICKERS.

Imagine the Pot Stickers...

You'll say TIT'N before you know it. When you see a pot sticker, your mouth will water like a rapid ocean. When you go into the restaurant, you can hear the sizzle...zzcczzhhh.

When You Pick Up a Pot Sticker...

You can feel the soft and slippery pasta with the different meats inside. Oh, how good it is. You should try one. (I have and it's good.)

When You Taste a Pot Sticker...

{full of joy}

Your mouth will water like a rapid ocean. Your tongue will have a party. (I believe you.)

And When You Smell a Pot Sticker...

Your nose will have a party. You need to eat one. (ok.)

When You See a Pot Sticker...

Your eyes just want to eat a pot sticker. You can't take a peek away from it.

When You Hear One...

Your ears love it in an instant. Gosh, when you bite it your ears go wild.

You should try one. You will love it!

According to Michael, TIT'N means "delicious" in Chinese. I really don't know, maybe it does. Makes you want to eat a pot sticker, eh? And if nothin' else, you'll be {full of joy} :)
