Gone Guys

Film site here.

'Over the past fifty years, boys and young men have steadily disengaged from school, work, and broader society. They’re falling behind academically, struggling with loneliness and isolation, and facing rising rates of substance abuse and suicide.

This 45-minute documentary draws on the influential work of Richard V. Reeves’ “Of Boys and Men”, illuminating these challenges through powerful data and compelling personal stories. Many of us have experienced these issues first-hand, but it can be difficult to talk about them. It’s not an either-or choice: caring more about boys and men does not mean caring less about women and girls.

Set in rural Vermont, the film brings national data to life with engaging animation accompanying lived experience featuring young men, educators, mentors, and trailblazing programs that are working to re-engage boys and young men in their communities and reshape their futures.'

Tyler Cowen: Elizabeth Holmes Should Not Be in Prison

Article here. Excerpt:

'Like many other people, I was enthralled by the new movie You Can See Everything. I found it stunningly original, and the three hours never dragged for me. (Before we go any further, there are no spoilers in this review, at least assuming you already know who Elizabeth Holmes is.)

But while watching it, I had a recurring thought: Holmes should not be in prison. To be clear, I do not doubt the jury’s findings of guilt. Nor am I trying to argue she was a naïf, trapped into crime by a cruel and hostile world.

What I did observe in the film, and knew about already, is that she has two small children. Furthermore, although her offenses were egregious—creating and marketing Theranos, a fraudulent blood-testing company—Holmes did not commit nor threaten any violence. The main charges that held up in court were wire fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud, or in more commonsense terms, defrauding her investors of hundreds of millions of dollars.'

The Male Exodus Already Hit Japan

Video here.

'The Male Exodus has already hit Japan. Is America next?

Japan's declining birth rates, rising numbers of single men, empty schools, and struggling universities may be a warning of what's coming to the United States.

Between 2002 and 2020, Japan closed approximately 450 public schools per year. Today, nearly 60% of Japanese private universities struggle to fill their freshman enrollment quotas. Meanwhile, the United States faces its own demographic crisis: declining birth rates, a growing gender gap in higher education, and the college enrollment cliff.

What happens when millions of men stop dating, marrying, and starting families? And what happens to universities, communities, and the economy when the next generation never arrives?'

Shocking $6M verdict shows why DOJ must investigate MIT

Article here. Excerpt:

'A Massachusetts jury recently awarded scientist David Sabatini $6 million and rejected the sexual-misconduct claims that had ended his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and shuttered his research laboratory at the Whitehead Institute. The jury’s seven women and six men brought a measure of objectivity and decency to the facts that the leaders of MIT and Whitehead could not.

Sabatini’s case is a perfect example how DEI and the rest of the left’s political crusades are so destructive to America. The verdict vindicates Sabatini, who has long maintained that his accuser, Kristin Knouse, had lied. But the legal fight took years of his life and nearly ruined him financially. And it shouldn’t be the end of the story. The trial exposed how thin — and how rotten — MIT’s and Whitehead’s case against Sabatini had been all along. MIT and Whitehead owe the public a reckoning. The Trump administration must investigate MIT and Whitehead.'

Why So Many Men Aren’t Working

Article here. Excerpt:

'From this diagnosis of men’s woes has followed a misguided attempt at a cure: setting tariffs in the hopes of bringing back manufacturing jobs, kicking out immigrants who might “steal” these jobs from “real” Americans, and vanquishing the DEI culture that has supposedly made workplaces hostile to white men. But the diagnosis is not correct: “Manly” jobs exist and employers are hiring. The trouble lies in finding men who are willing and able to take them.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics just reported that, at the end of August, the mining, logging, construction, and manufacturing sectors had about 800,000 job openings. This represents an increase of 148,000 job openings in the past year, during which job openings across the entire economy increased by 160,000. Police departments and other law-enforcement agencies also have had high vacancy rates and difficulty filling those jobs. If the problem were a shortage of work in predominantly male occupations, these vacancies wouldn’t exist.'

The madness of the ‘femosphere’

Article here. Excerpt:

'But I mean that question seriously. Can a pop song cause mental illness? In recent weeks, I’ve become convinced that one song in particular, a song called “Labour” by Paris Paloma, is having a detrimental effect on the sanity of young women across the Western world, especially in America.

In August, the song was the soundtrack to a hundred-thousand TikTok and Instagram reels about the Lindsay Clancy case, each one vying with all the others to make the most lurid and sensational claims about the victimization of women, the unfairness of modern society and the “obvious” guilt of a man whose wife freely admitted she killed her three children with a set of exercise bands while he was out running errands. Now there’s the Cornell Seven case – a campus orgy gone wrong – and again “Labour” is the mood music. The song has become the anthem of generalized female discontent, whatever its object.

Help! I Was Just Trying to Help a Young Woman at the Gym. Then She Set Out to Ruin My Reputation.

Article here. Excerpt:

'One day, after noticing her squat form, I couldn’t help but intervene. I gave her some tips and a brief demonstration and told her that I just wanted her to avoid injury. She didn’t seem put off at the moment, but the next time I was there, one of the owners pulled me aside and told me that a “female patron” had complained that I was sexually harassing her. I was taken aback and asked if it was because of this interaction, and I was told that, for confidentiality reasons, they couldn’t confirm who complained about me. They said that they take these matters very seriously and banned me from the gym for a month! ...

Sundial ‘Cornell 7’ op-ed sparks campus outrage, internal turmoil

Article here. Excerpt:

'An opinion essay published in the Sundial, an independent student magazine, on Tuesday is sparking campus outrage and internal turmoil over concerns that its coverage of sexual assault allegations at Cornell University lacks empathy and factual accuracy.

Student writers from the Sundial wrote a petition Wednesday calling for the publication to “cease organizational operations” until its leaders address concerns with its editorial processes. Student groups have also issued statements and letters to the Sundial, criticizing the inaccuracy of the piece and calling for reforms to the publication.

Ripperger silenced for his views on marriage and women, allegedly

According to LifeSiteNews and Timothy Gordon, notable Catholic priest and exorcist Fr Chad Ripperger was silenced for his views on marriage and feminism:

On Monday, LifeSiteNews reported that [Denver Archbishop James] Golka had asked Ripperger, a well-known exorcist and Thomist, to undertake a one-year “fast” from public speaking, interviews, preaching, and writing.

Timothy Gordon, the Catholic author, podcaster, and co-producer of the documentary What a Woman Is, publicly asserted that the primary reason Denver Archbishop James Golka restricted Father Chad Ripperger's public ministry was the priest’s teachings on feminism, patriarchy, and Christian marriage.

Gordon made the claim in multiple posts on X in the days after news of the restriction, including a video statement in which he said he possessed “moral certainty” about the cause.

After centuries of misogyny, women deserve reparations – but how much are they owed?

Article here. Excerpt:

'Asking the question isn’t merely a demand for financial compensation; it’s a moral reckoning. A demand for an acknowledgement of harm. Still, as Madonna noted, “we are living in a material world, and I am a material girl”. So let’s get down to the business of sums.

How far do we go back to calculate women’s losses?
...
Now the Church of England has promised ÂŁ100m in reparations for slavery. Project Spire will not give money to direct descendants of those who were enslaved, however, but to improving opportunities for communities affected by slavery.
...
...Divided by the 35 million women in the UK today, this would give us each a lump sum of £20,000. And that’s before you begin calculating the financial oppression that followed in the 20th century and beyond.

Bateman poses a further question: the gender wage gap for full-time employees now hovers near 7% – do men today owe women 3.5% of their earnings?'

Opinion: Hating men only centers them; performative misandry is misogyny

Article here. Excerpt:

'In a world systemically centered around men, pretending to dislike them only sets us further back as a society.

We’ve entered an age in society where many women have popularized throwing around the phrase, “I hate men.” It’s disguised as a reaction to the political and physical pain men have inflicted upon women through the power of the patriarchy; in truth, however, it’s just another way to perpetuate that patriarchal dominance.

After all, centering yourself around hating men is still centering yourself around men. It means nothing if you’re not putting in the work to misalign yourself from their gaze.

The hatred of men is, more often than not, performative. It’s a product of following propaganda and what people have deemed to be “cool.” It’s not established in anything progressive, and it’s a movement that harms both women and men together.

As per usual, women are the ones for whom this is most dangerous.'

Believe women? No – believe evidence

Article here. Excerpt:

'Jane Doe’s case against Cornell and seven former students has become a Rorschach test. One reading is that its a case of gang rape and institutional cover-up. Another reading, based on the text messages sent at the time, is murkier, messier and far less convenient for the outrage industry. These messages tell a different story from the narrative surrounding the lawsuit, and the “believe women” brigade would prefer you didn’t read them.

On October 19, 2024, Jane Doe, a 20-year-old Cornell student, attended a sorority event at Moonies Bar in Ithaca. By her lawsuit’s account, she had had about ten drinks by 11 p.m. She walked to the Chi Phi frat house to see a male friend, Matthew Ingalls. Ketamine was present. Other men came into the room.
