I have to self-inject a medication into my belly twice a day now through Sunday. I'm used to a spring-loaded needle lancet to draw a quick tap of blood for testing (I do this weekly)... but I've been given actual syringes that I have stick in my belly and inject myself twice a day for the next 3 days.
Holy shit I was a ridiculous pussy doing this on my own in front of my wife and nurse this morning for this first time ever... but I did it... where's my fucking popsicle???!!!
- Whoa shit, what happened?garbage

RIP of the day
Old-school member here. I can’t remember his username, but I still had him on Facebook.
A message from the Higgs family.
Alan Higgs ❤️ 13/01/1935 – 24/10/2026
We are very sorry to share the sad news that the wonderful Alan Higgs passed away this weekend. Many of you will know him from this page, of course, but also locally, as he was often out and about, getting involved in just about anything he could!
His zest for life knew no bounds. He had slowed down a little in recent years, but at his peak, he could be seen not just roller skating down Toddington High Street, but hula hooping at the same time!
We've already received so many lovely messages, with words such as "legend", "inspiration" and "unique" being used to describe him. And he really was all of those things.
He didn't like a fuss, really. He just had a wonderful, go-getting attitude to life and was always up for giving something a go! He loved his walking group and playing pool. In fact, at the age of 90, he even became a TikTok star, with a video of him playing pool in the club reaching over 8 million views!
He played the drums and harmonica and loved jazz music.- https://www.qbn.com/…tank02
- toulouz. I remember seeing him around here. RIP :(OBBTKN

I think he'll beat me, at least.
Rest well, Toulouz.

Did the Adobe dance again for another 12 months. They wanted to bill me A$113.49 a month! Fuggers! Did the dance and got offered $47.99/mo for 12 months. FFS, just offer it at that price to start with!

quote of the day
"Tell me, gentle flowers, teardrops of the stars, standing in the garden, nodding your heads to the bees as they sing of the dews and the sunbeams, are you aware of the fearful doom that awaits you? Dream on, sway and frolic while you may in the gentle breezes of summer. To-morrow a ruthless hand will close around your throats. You will be wrenched, torn asunder limb by limb, and borne away from your quiet homes. The wretch, she may be passing fair. She may say how lovely you are while her fingers are still moist with your blood. Tell me, will this be kindness? It may be your fate to be imprisoned in the hair of one whom you know to be heartless or to be thrust into the buttonhole of one who would not dare to look you in the face were you a man. It may even be your lot to be confined in some narrow vessel with only stagnant water to quench the maddening thirst that warns of ebbing life."

Apple
An onslaught of new products this week:
https://www.apple.com/ca/macbook…
https://www.apple.com/ca/macbook…
https://www.apple.com/ca/imac/
Etc.
YET, I can't seem to be excited about a single one... Utilitarian brain?! Lack of disposable income, perhaps?!
The "Foldgate" iPhone Duo scandal seems to be huge on its own albeit social media (namely Reddit) seems to be blowing it out of proportion...
...I mean, these devices are barely out yet and folks jump to conclusions and than fight about it.
#TooOldForThisShit
- these days they're just like a newer screwdriver. they still do the same stuff so what's to get excited about? a new coloured handle, shinier shaft etc etchans_glib
- Wow they created a touchscreen laptop, thought it would never happen.yuekit
- The 14" touchscreen laptop is $2900 and the 16" version is $3400. The older version 14" version: $2000 and 16': $3000CyBrainX
- I see an even worse price than that....$4k for the starter model, almost $5k for the 16" one.yuekit
- I wonder if more expensive laptops are just going to be the new normal as they become more powerful and capable of running local AI.yuekit
- more fingerprints are also the new normalaliastime
- Probably wont work with the Apple Pencil procannonball1978
- What do we want?!?! An iMac Pro 27” !!!
When do we want it?!?!? Consumer 24” iMacs in 8 colours nobody needs!!!!_niko - But but the color thing that they did in the 90s... why isn't it working still?cannonball1978
- feels like they are release a bunch of experiments or dumping excess of parts, hence no new models. Read the HomeView thing was warehoused since 2025.Squiddy
- is 120Hz that big a deal? So much hate cuz the new iPad Mini is 60Hz. (though the price increase doesn't help)Squiddy

- @Pango - I learn everything about Apple, third hand on QBN..utopian
- Short take is it's a new nice OLED screen that "also happens to support touch".
https://daringfireba…evilpeacock - i wonder if that means more touch laptop is going to be on the market and decrease the none apple touch laptop pricepango

Artificial Intelligence
I need to 'vibe code' a speech to text function on a website using the browser dictation capabilities.
Where do I find people to do this... I was going to try it, but seems like a headache.
- it's not. not at all. Use Claude. he's your best friend._niko
- you'll get it done 1000x faster and 1000x cheaper and be 1000x more satisfied._niko
- or just hire pali or any other coder on here :)_niko
- or just put two fingers in your pussy and blowrobthelad
- yeeshcanoe
- use or google/claude the 'Web Speech API'.
no code needed, it's native browser tech.uan - Just type "I need to vibe code a speech to text function on a website..." into the AIyuekit
- I have successfully built speech to text apps using Google Studio purely by vibe coding, it is very easy.utopian
- https://aistudio.goo…utopian
- I generally use Gemini to build the best prompt, as Gemini is free, then shit that into Claude or Codex. Takes a bit of pissing about, but you can do it canoe.Ianbolton
- Use Claude. Explain what you want to do in normal language. Tell it to write a plan. Examine that and tell it your tweaks if needed. Then tell it to build.Squiddy

Show some recent work
Okay, since we love paper, here's another one back from the printer: a paper model of a typical Dutch ambulance, commissioned by the Utrecht region.
The cool thing about this model is that you can choose whether to make the simple version with flat wheels, or the variant with real wheel wells and 3d wheels.

Suggest a good movie…
saw the vvitch after seeing it on a bunch or yo top 9 movies thread and was not disappointed.
I had already seen Lighthouse and loved it, so now I've started Nosferatu, which I'd previously dismissed as a cheap cash-grab on the tail of the original but I've got to say I was wrong and it's great.
His attention to detail and his historical accuracy is just superb.
Love his films.- Going to watch this evening, thanks.utopian
- I watched Nosferatu last night and it barely held my attention, sadly.i_monk
- Ugh, yeah just finished Nosferatu, felt the same, started off well but was too long and unengaging. original was way better_niko
- Yes to all of this. I still liked Nosferatu, but it was a lull. Also The Northman if you haven't seen it.garbage
- Reaaaally looking forward to Werwulf.garbage
- I'll second Garbage's recommendation about The Northman. Probably my favourite after The VVitch and Lighthouse.Morning_star
- Fare thee well Thomasin.Morning_star
- i love Eggers, but this was a slow, burning hell of a film. It shit me up sat in the cinema with maybe 3 other people at 1 in the morning.Ianbolton
- Okay, Witch was disappointing.utopian
- Probably over-hyped it. Wast crazy about the ending but overall I’m a sucker for period pieces especially ones with such great attention to detail_niko
- An old man in the cinema had a fainting episode during the little boy possession... So had that crazed scene, plus his wife yelling at her husband to wake up...inteliboy
- Will never forget it. The entire packed cinema was on edge, like some evil shit was going downinteliboy
