SelEggt egg handling
For In-Ovo Sexing and early candling
Up to 10–30% of eggs are infertile or contain early dead embryos before incubation. Of the remaining fertile eggs, around 50% will develop into male chicks—leaving a significant share of eggs that will never generate value. We address both challenges with advanced egg handling and in-ovo sexing solutions to improve hatchery efficiency.
Introducing SetGate
Remove non-viable eggs early.
Take control on day 9.
SetGate identifies viable eggs on day 9, eliminating waste and restoring full trays. A standalone product for egg handling. In addition it forms the foundation of the SelEggt process, ensuring only eggs with real hatch potential proceed to DNA analysis.
Identify viable eggs
AI-based imaging detects infertile eggs and early embryonic mortality with >99,9% accuracy.
Remove risk from the process
Non-viable eggs are eliminated before they can impact the incubation environment.
Restore full capacity
Empty spots are automatically refilled to maintain fully loaded trays and maximise output.
Optimising hatchery operations
SelEggt In-Ovo Sexing system
SelEggt enables early DNA-based sex determination from day 9, allowing only female eggs to continue incubation. By combining early candling (SetGate) with In-Ovo Sexing, it eliminates manual sexing, reduces bacterial pressure, and achieves up to 49% female hatching eggs with >99,5% accuracy.
SetGate reviews, rejects and refills eggs into full trays with an accuracy exceeding 99,9%, ensuring that only viable, fertile eggs are DNA-tested.
Advanced DNA sampling and PCR analysis ensure precise sex determination for every fertile egg, delivering up to 49% female yield with 99,5% accuracy.
The Conditioned Cabinet maintains optimal temperatures during laboratory analysis, protecting embryo viability and preventing egg cooling.
The Sorter automatically places female eggs onto trays for continued incubation. Male eggs can be repurposed for alternative applications. Full traceability ensures a smooth, reliable and efficient sorting process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Your questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about SelEggt.
How accurate is the SelEggt system?
SelEggt achieves up to 49% female hatching eggs with an accuracy of over 99.5%. In addition, the SetGate identifies infertile eggs and early embryonic mortality with an accuracy exceeding 99.9%.
What are the advantages of SelEggt compared to manual vent sexing?
SelEggt reduces dependency on scarce specialised labour, lowers labour costs, prevents unwanted damage to valuable chicks, improves the accuracy of sexing results, and reduces bacterial pressure inside the incubator. It also operates at approximately the same cost per egg as manual vent sexing.
Can SelEggt systems be integrated into existing hatcheries?
Yes, both SelEggt In-Ovo Sexing and SetGate are designed for seamless integration into existing hatcheries. Installation and commissioning are completed within 80 hours for In-Ovo Sexing and 30 hours for SetGate upon delivery without requiring additional electrical infrastructure or external installation partners.
Is SelEggt suitable for all genetics?
Yes. The SelEggt systems are compatible with all genetics, broilers and layers and offer large operating windows starting from day 9 of incubation, making them future-proof solutions for hatcheries worldwide.
Where is SelEggt currently operating?
Multiple SelEggt systems are successfully operating in hatcheries in the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, and Norway, demonstrating reliable integration and high operational performance across different hatchery environments.
What is the business impact of the SelEggt system for my hatchery?
The SelEggt system improves hatchery efficiency, output, and control by combining early egg selection and in-ovo sexing into one integrated process.
SetGate (standalone) removes infertile eggs and early dead embryos before they impact the incubation environment. This reduces bacterial pressure, prevents contamination events such as exploding eggs, and lowers cleaning, downtime, and operational disruption.
In-ovo sexing ensures that only female eggs continue incubation. This increases predictable output, eliminates manual chick sexing, and reduces labor dependency.
Combined system impact: by working only with viable eggs, hatchery capacity is used more effectively, processes become more stable, and chick output becomes more predictable and easier to plan.
In short, the SelEggt system reduces operational risk, increases effective output, and gives hatcheries more control over performance and planning.
