Welcome to Andy’s website at sp6.net, it’s a simple little site and there’s not a great deal to see at the moment. I’m retired now and live not to far away from Fordingbridge which is a lovely little town on the edge of the New Forest in the county of Hampshire.
I visit quite frequently and often go for a walk in the park which runs along the River Avon. At one end there is a fabulous view of the 13th century bridge with its seven arches. Right next to this is the very popular pub called The George.
If you’re a keen gardener and happen to be in the Fordingbridge area, there’s a fabulous nursery called Baskets And Blooms in nearby Stuckton. SP62HG
Constructing Andy’s Website
The website is a very simple affair and consists of some basic HTML pages that are styled with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). I’ve used quite an old program called KompoZer which is a free and open-source HTML editor and web authoring package. It really is very easy.
If you'd like to build your own website then check out W3 Schools for some great tutorials.
Once the pages are ready, they’re uploaded to my web hosting package which is with a company called Hostinguk.net. If this website gets any bigger than a few pages then I may consider using a content management service. Wordpress.org is an extremely popular one and can easily be installed with my hosting package.
If you don’t have or want a hosting package then Wordpress.com is a popular choice for standard websites and blogs. I believe that the prices are very reasonable and there’s a lot of online support available.
I’ve also submitted the website to the Google search console so, once it’s been indexed, I should get an idea of who visits the site. It could be that on one ever does but we’ll see.
