 Introduction
Ľ

Thank you for downloading "A Beginner's Guide To Euphoria II", a fun
way to learn how to program using the Euphoria language. No previous
programming experience is required.

The hardware and software requirements needed to run this tutorial are
listed below:

Software:
=========

Euphoria (Shareware Or Complete Edition Release) software, Version 1.5 or
higher, with C:\EUPHORIA\BIN added to your DOS PATH variable. You should
also have DOS variable EUDIR set as well. Both variables are set during the
installation of the Euphoria software.

A mouse driver, previously loaded. The driver should be no more than
two years old.

Hardware:
=========

A 486SX-33 or better.

A SVGA or VGA video card capable of showing graphics in 640X480 pixel
resolution using 16 colours.

 How To Run
Ľ

Before attempting to run this tutorial, make sure you unZIPped it using
the following syntax:

PKUNZIP ABGTE2.ZIP -D

The data files, graphic files and demo program source are stored in
separate directories. If you did not UNZIP it using the syntax above,
erase the tutorial off the hard drive and reinstall from the ZIP file
again using the syntax above, otherwise it will not run properly and bomb.

To run, type the following command in DOS or in a Windows 3.11/
Windows 95 DOS window:

ABGTE2

Optionally, there are parameters to pass to the tutorial to make it run to
your requirements. /si skips the intro screen, /ndb silences the
beep whenever a demo finishes running, and /qpe quickly ends the program
when you press the QUIT button on the remote...no goodbye screen. Typing
ABGTE2 /? will generate a list of valid parameters

After the introduction graphics are finished, you will be asked to click
the mouse. Click the mouse using the left button. The first chapter
will give you instructions on how to use the tutorial, including how to
use the remote, navigating from page to page, chapter to chapter,
and running and viewing demonstration (demo) programs.

When a demo program stops running, you will hear a loud beep (if you did
not use /ndb). Simply press any key on the keyboard and you will be returned
back to the demo menu. The demo menu is explained in the chapter on how
to use the tutorial software.

When you are finished running the tutorial, bring up the remote and click
the Quit button. The remote is explained in the chapter on how to use
the tutorial software. You will then see a goodbye screen
(a screen with my picture on it). Press any key to stop the program.

Please do not alter or delete any of the files in the directories
DEMOS, GRAPHICS, and DATA. If you do, the tutorial will not operate
properly.

The tutorial is designed to be easy to operate and understand. However, if
you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
moggie@interlog.com or moggie@tor.ebean.com.

Once again, thank you for using this tutorial, and good luck in your
adventures in programming :)
