Safe and secure
Purchased this almost two years ago to allow health carers access to my mums property. Although it is now been moved and reused by me to store spare keys, it's been outside during all seasons without there being a scratch on it. No signs of wear whatsoever. Not even the paint has faded, and this is with it being bombarded with direct sunlight, rain and snow. It is solid and robust enough for me to trust it complexly with securely holding my spare keys. The only way someone could get inside it would be to rip it off the wall and whack it hard many times with a sledge hammer. All of which would make lots of noise and alert neighbours. To add more security I fitted the safe with the longest screws(4 inch) I could get my hands on, plus adding a thick steel washer behind the screw heads. Anyone trying to forcefully remove it from the wall would need to take part of the wall with it. There is no key hook inside the safe. With this said you could easily create one by placing a hook washer behind the top fixing screw. I personally place the keys on the base of the safe. In all the years of use I've not encountered any problems with the combination mechanism. The combination barrel is hidden behind a strong weather shutter. Even though few carers closed the shutter during its first year of use it hasn't effected the barrel in any way. I also remember hearing many of the carers mentioning this was the most common key safe they encountered during their rounds. None of the carers ever mentioned anything negative about this particular type of safe, and I personally have nothing but praise for it. UPDATE +6 years: It has now been over six years since it has been secured to an outside wall. As you can see from the pictures, the paintwork is a little faded in places but it is still going strong without any signs of wear. The barrel lock still works like a treat and this is without me even needing to lubricate it.
