Since the complete overhaul a year or two back, the App hardly ever works for anyone I know. That’s about 15 of my friends with Cineworld card (friends without that card, book at the cinema mostly). For ages I thought it was my phone hence I never said anything - it’s only in the last few weeks that I discovered, without fail: everyone I know, who has a Cineworld card, refuses to use the App to book. I still have to login each time I use it to the extent that minutes ago I booked 2 movies, literally one after the other & it made me login for each booking. Very often, (more than half the time), when clicking on the movie to book, I watch that dreaded circle go round & round while the App is searching & it finishes with an error. Once I tried booking on my account with my phone, my husband’s account on his phone & neither one of us could book. We didn’t go to the movies that day. I tried to book once when in a shopping centre & it kept giving me an error so I walked up to the cinema, booked there and showed the staff member that it wouldn’t book online - their response was, “I’m terribly sorry. We get many complaints re the App but nothing seems to change.”I just went to look at the most recent reviews in the App Store & complaints were about logging in all the time so I followed the Cineworld reply about logging in from My Cineworld tab at the bottom - then I clicked on My Bookings & it says I have none. Good thing I have the emails & screenshots of the 2 X 2 tickets I booked earlier. I remember I encountered this issue before plus I still had to login continuously so your ‘fix recommendations doesn’t work Cineworld.If I could give this App zero stars, I would.

This isn’t based on it just being new and different and not used to it. This is a worse version of what actually worked well. I’m not that keen on the new app. It’s definitely not as user friendly as the previous version. Poster artwork showing the film are often missing. When you scroll the films, look at the film info and then move back to the previous screen you have to then scroll through all the films again to find your previous position, which is a bit annoying if you’ve gone through quite a few. When viewing booked seats it used to show the ‘house seats’ as separate, as I like having no one sat behind me if I can chose that. Now I don’t know if they are ‘house seats’ or that 4 people have booked seats there. That needs changing back to the original format of having a different graphic/icon. Having spoken to a member of staff who asked me what I thought at my local Cineworld and expressing my feelings he said they were echoed by a lot of other customers. They also didn’t like it. So I think it needs looking at. It’s definitely not an improvement and I’m struggling to see any positives. Also it would be nice to only show films that will be shown at your specific cinema. There’s no point in listing a load of ‘world cinema’ films for eg if none of them will be shown at my local cinema. Just list what I can choose from. It may be frustrating to think I can watch a film listed to then try and book it and find its not showing at my local screen.

I'm clearly in the minority here but, to me, this app is an improvement. It's not perfect and I can see why people are annoyed that you can't see the film poster or information when you view showings on a particular day but it doesn't bother me so much as I tend to know about the movies already and it's actually easy to pop back into the information page. Having said this, I do think it would be improved by still having a direct link to this for each film on the booking page. You can also book by selecting a film directly from any page where it does have the information so it's not so bad - it's only when going into 'book by date' at a particular location that it's not there.The old app gave me an incorrect connection error message every single time I booked without fail. This is now fixed. Hooray! I had no problems booking - quick and easy. Someone said you can't choose your seating directly within the app - this is untrue - you've been able to do so for a long time.I like the layout with the large posters - it's bright and clear and striking. In conclusion, I really don't think it deserves the barrage of completely negative reviews. I would mark it down as an improvement without hesitation.

I have been an unlimited customer for a few years now and use the app every time I book- so despite the problems I encounter each time I continue as it is still the quickest way to book.The old app was so easy to use I could book tickets within seconds. This new app is far less superior. The set up to initially locate and book a movie is less user friendly although I have now adapted to this, however it is the constant ‘bugs’ that drive me insane...I have to log in every time I book (so yesterday booked 3 movies and had to log in back to back for each movie booking) sometimes it just won’t progress through the screens and gets stuck so I have to cancel the booking and start from scratch. But then when you restart the process your seats are gone (they aren’t but the system doesn’t update quick enough so it thinks you just booked those seats and hasn’t released them from the cancelled booking you were forced to do as it froze!). The e- tickets never save (so again right now I have no e- tickets despite just having booked 3 movies). Fine I have learnt to screenshot once I book so I have it on my photo reel but it shouldn’t be necessary.The bottom line is for me the app is still easier than having to log in via the website but the app is not of the same calibre as the old version and is a very frustrating product to use. On the days when it sails through the booking process it is a 7/10 app compared to 9/10 for the old version. Why ‘upgrade’ when the old version was so good to a far worse version? It probably cost a lot to develop but seems to be a waste of investment...Cineworld need to take heed of all the reviews and review their product.
