Blackburn's Australian international Brett Emerton has been ruled out of the Uefa Cup match against Basle because of a hamstring strain.

Morten Gamst Pedersen (ankle) and Shabani Nondo (shin) are both doubtful through injury.

Robbie Savage, who was banned for the defeat by West Ham, could return after suffering fluid on the knee.

Striker Jason Roberts will be sidelined for at least three months after breaking a bone in his foot.

BLACKBURN ROVERS head for East London eager to pile more misery on Alan Pardew's beleaguered side. But they're not without their own problems. Two missed penalties in a 0-1 home loss to Bolton last Saturday, followed by a 0-2 home defeat to Chelsea in the Carling Cup on Wednesday, means Mark Hughes' team need something from this trip to get their season back on track.

Was this on tv at all? If it was, I couldn't find it on any of the listings...

It sounds like it was a deserved victory for chelsea despite rovers nearly taking the lead in the first half. Two goals in the second half from cole and kalou wrapped it up for the visitors.

Personally, I am not at all disappointed by this result. I would much rather see us have a good run in the UEFA cup than knacker out our squad attempting to compete in potentially four competitions. Still, two losses on the trot now :(

David Bentley (hamstring) and Andre Ooijer (bruised ribs) are both doubtful for the match at Ewood Park.

Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini (head injury) is back in training but is not yet considered ready to return so Hilario continues in goal.

I managed to catch the second half on channel five today. What a result! From what I saw, rovers absolutely dominated. We had tons of space and even more chances.

Blackburn conceded an unlucky deflection in the first half but turned the game around in the second period. A headed goal from Savage brought the sides level and just as I was thinking "I'd take a point", Bentley sealed it in the 89th minute following an amazing move/shot from Jason Roberts.

A desrved victory and a good start to the Euopean Campaign!

I watched the game on EPSN-Asia today - it was a brilliant stream, almost as though it was "real" tv. Rovers slaughtered liverpool for a good 50/60minutes with McCarthy scoring yet another goal from a Bentley cross in the first half. Bellamy of all people levelled after the break and from that point on it was all liverpool.

On the balance of play, it was probably a fair result with both sides missing chances.
