But they're not without their own problems. Two missed penalties in a 0-1 home loss to Bolton last Saturday, followed by a 0-2 home defeat to Chelsea in the Carling Cup on Wednesday, means Mark Hughes' team need something from this trip to get their season back on track.

Rovers have not suffered back-to-back defeats in 12 Premiership outings, since losing to Liverpool (h) and Birmingham (a) on 16 and 19 April respectively.

Rovers' only maximum at Upton Park in this League was 1-2 on 27 April 1994, when Henning Berg and Ian Pearce were on target.

Going into the weekend: 10th 12 points
(all statistics are ahead of this weekend's round of Premiership fixtures)

1. Last Sunday's home loss to Bolton ended an eight-game undefeated spell in League and Cup.

2. Won five of eight in all competitions.

3. Lost the lead three times in Premiership matches, but dropped only four points from winning positions (drawing home to Everton and away to Liverpool).

4. Seeking a sixth away game in League and Cup without defeat.

5. Won two and drawn three on the road in the Premiership and Uefa Cup since their sole defeat away from Ewood Park (3-0 at Portsmouth on the opening day, 19 August).

6. Still own the dubious distinction of the least well-behaved side in the highest League with 24 cards shown (one red, 23 yellow), even excluding Andy Todd's dismissal at Portsmouth, which was rescinded.

7. A home fixture with Basle in Group E of the Uefa Cup follows this on Thursday, before a trip to Aston Villa in the Premiership and a home match with Manchester United.

8. Holding the worst penalty-taking record in the Premiership so far this season - failing to convert all three awarded. Also, conceded more spot kicks in top flight games this term than any other club, with the exception of Bolton - both have had five awarded against them.

- k e v -

Undefeated in eight in all competitions (five wins, three draws), winning five of the last six.

2. Won three and drawn two of five Premiership outings, since losing 0-2, home to Chelsea, on 27 August.

3. Beaten Manchester City and Wigan by an aggregate of 6-3 in their last two at Ewood Park. Victory over Bolton would make it a hat-trick of local derby successes at home.

5. Three goals short of 400 all time in home Premier League games.

5. Conceded six goals in League games at Ewood Park this term. Only Middlesbrough have leaked more (seven).

6. Still own the dubious distinction of the least well-behaved side in the Premier League with 22 cards (one red, 21 yellow), even excluding Andy Todd's dismissal at Portsmouth, which was rescinded.

7. Conceded more penalties in Premiership matches this season than any other club (five).

- k e v -
