David "Dave" Hostetler Sr. is an American senior athlete and retired chemical-industry entrepreneur associated with Mount Holly, North Carolina. He has won age-group titles at the National Senior Games in badminton and cornhole, and has also medaled in track and field.[1][2][3][4] He founded the chemical manufacturer ArroChem.[5]

Background and business career

[edit]

Hostetler was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.[6]

According to ArroChem's published history, Hostetler was a formulating chemist who established the company in 1977 as a supplier of textile chemicals. The company established a production facility in Mount Holly in 1979. His son, David Hostetler Jr., joined in 1992. The company dates the elder Hostetler's retirement to 1994.[5]

In an interview published by the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates, his son described ArroChem's original products as chemicals for bleaching cotton. He also recalled that his mother handled administrative work and that he took over running the business after his father's retirement.[7]

Senior athletic career

[edit]

PBS Charlotte's Carolina Impact profiled Hostetler in 2023. He carried the state flag at the 2022 nationals and partnered his daughter Kami in mixed badminton doubles.[8]

His 2025 results included four gold medals: men's 90–94 singles in badminton and cornhole, men's 85–89 badminton doubles with Peter Eltgroth, and mixed 85–89 cornhole doubles with Catherine Crooke.[1][2][18][19] He also won bronze in men's 90–94 long jump and placed fifth in that division's discus.[4][20]
