iDolls were a Filipino all-male vocal trio formed by ABS-CBN in 2019 after the conclusion of the first season of Idol Philippines. The group consisted of Lucas Garcia (the season's runner-up), Matty Juniosa (a Top 12 finalist), and Enzo Almario (a Top 20 finalist).[1] All three members were openly part of the LGBTQ+ community, and the group referred to themselves as the "Veklas of the Orient."[2]
The group released music under StarPop, the music label of ABS-CBN Music, and were regular performers on ASAP Natin 'To. They competed in the third season of Your Face Sounds Familiar in 2021, finishing in fourth place. The iDolls disbanded in September 2022 after Juniosa decided to relocate to the United Kingdom to pursue musical theatre studies.[3]
History

[edit]The iDolls were formed by ABS-CBN following the final episode of the first season of Idol Philippines in July 2019.[1] The three members — Lucas Garcia, Matty Juniosa, and Enzo Almario — had all competed in the season. Lucas was proclaimed the runner-up, Matty reached the Top 12, and Enzo made it to the Top 20.[1] After the competition, ABS-CBN grouped them together as an all-male vocal trio under the StarPop label.[4]
Music and television appearances (2019–2022)
[edit]The iDolls began releasing covers of popular OPM songs, including "Dalaga," "Hanggang Dito na Lang," and "Mabagal."[1] In September 2020, the three members each released individual singles under StarPop: Lucas released "Tinatapos Ko Na" (a revival of the 2018 Himig Handog entry originally by Jona), Matty released the original song "Sayaw ng mga Tala," and Enzo released "Extensyon" (a revival of the 2017 Himig Handog entry originally by Inigo Pascual).[1]
The group became regular performers on ASAP Natin 'To on ABS-CBN from 2020 to 2022.[4] They also served as online hosts for Idol Philippines Season 2 in 2022.[4]
In 2021, the iDolls competed as a group in the third season of Your Face Sounds Familiar on ABS-CBN, where they were billed as the "Idol Trio" and finished in fourth place.[5]
In July 2021, the iDolls released their debut original group single "Kapangyarihan," an LGBTQ+ empowerment anthem written and composed by all three members and produced by StarPop label head Rox Santos.[6] The song was later featured as the finale lip-sync song performed by Captivating Katkat and Arizona Brandy in the second season of Drag Race Philippines.[4]
Also in 2021, the group recorded "Hinog Na Ang Mundo," which served as the theme song for Love Beneath the Stars, the sequel series to the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival film The Boy Foretold by the Stars. The song was written and composed by Jhaye Cura and produced by Jhaye Cura and Paolo Protacio.[2]
Following the group's stint on Your Face Sounds Familiar, the three members officially signed contracts with Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent management arm.[6]
Disbandment (2022)
[edit]The iDolls disbanded in September 2022 after three years together. The disbandment was prompted by Juniosa's decision to relocate to the United Kingdom to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.[3] In announcing the group's end, Enzo shared behind-the-scenes photos from their last show and expressed gratitude toward his groupmates.[3]
Following the disbandment, Juniosa moved to Glasgow, Scotland, and eventually gained international recognition as a finalist on Britain's Got Talent Series 19 in 2026.[4] Almario continued his solo music career under StarPop and released his debut EP Gunita in 2025. Lucas Garcia continued to pursue music and other projects.
