The Kleine Vermaning is a church (vermaning) in Heemstede, North Holland, Netherlands in use by the Mennonite congegration Haarlem. The church was build in 1926 by architect Huib Tuninga. The church is used twice a month, on other sundays the Grote Vermaning in Haarlem gets used.
History
[edit]In 1922 the Nederlandse Protestantenbond (Dutch protestants union) started a branch in Heemstede, this branch first used a building on the bronsteeweg (street) in Heemstede, but later they desided to build their own building, with the help of donations from members. They collected a total of 23.204 Gulden.[1] In 1926 the church was build by architect Huib Tuninga, on instructions of the Nederlandse Protestantenbond. In 1937 an organ was build in the church by Flentrop.[2] After the Heemstede Protestants branch was stopped in 1996, the church got in use by the Mennonite congregation Haarlem after a renovation. On November 9th 1997 the first service was being held with the mennonites.[1]

The kleine vermaning is an Aisleless Church, The church has no tower, but on the roof stands a bell cote. The building consist of a single building layer beneath a gable roof.The building is build in a Commercial Expressionism Architectural style with Amsterdamse School accents.[3] The main entrance, located on the Postlaan, with narrow rectangular windows on both sides of the door. The windows in the building are stained glass windows.[3] The sexton's house on the backside of the church is located on the Lieven de Keylaan.
Interior
[edit]The Kitchen of the church, has colorful original tiles.[3] On the wall on both sides of the entrance, are memorial plaques, for the start and build, aswell as for the purchase and renovation of the building.
