  • Comment: Thank you for adding additional sources, and yes Poceviciene helps here. However the other 2 source - one is a passing reference and the other is a press release. Under WP:NORG we need multiple, ideally three, examples of secondary sourcing. The other sources are not independent and/or primary (such as the Erasmus database entry).
Also, less problematic, it would be helpful to add one, maybe two sentences to the lead paragraph just to summarise what the alliance does. ChrysGalley (talk) 09:00, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment: The sources only confirm that the organisation exists, they do not show that it is notable. Please follow the links in the decline notice to learn what is required. bonadea contributions talk 18:21, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

NEOLAiA European University Alliance (from the Greek νεολαία, meaning “youth”) comprises nine European universities: University of Jaén (Spain), Bielefeld University (Germany), University of Nicosia (Cyprus), Örebro University (Sweden), University of Ostrava (Czech Republic), University of Salerno (Italy), Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania), University of Tours (France) and University of Šiauliai (Lithuania)[1].

The alliance was established as a collaboration between universities in Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic and Sweden in 2019. It subsequently expanded to include universities from Italy, France, Lithuania, Romania and Cyprus.

In 2023, NEOLAiA was selected under the Erasmus+ European Universities initiative. The funded project runs from 2024 to 2027[2]. The project officially began on 1 January 2024.

In February 2025, NEOLAiA's Language Policy Charter was approved, which partner universities have used as a template for creating or modifying their existing institutional language policies[3].

In October 2025, the alliance held its first international congress at the University of Jaén. The congress focused on the role of universities and regions in a more decentralised European model[4].

Objectives

[edit]

NEOLAiA is a European university alliance[5] that comprises nine universities from across Europe, located outside major capital cities. Its stated objectives include digital transformation, diversity and inclusion, and student and staff mobility[6][7]. The alliance also identifies demographic decline[8] and the migration of young people as challenges affecting several of its partner regions.

The alliance fosters cooperation among universities, public authorities, businesses, and civil society (i.e. through complementary educational models such as joint degree programmes[9], micro-credentials[10] and Blended Intensive Programmes[11][12], and through Citizen Science activities[13], also involving high schools through workshops centered on open data, data visualization and storytelling).[14][15]

NEOLAiA identifies three main areas of activity[16]:

  • Digital transformation
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Advanced mobility[17]
