Rocket Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in New Zealand, operating on the One New Zealand network. It is operated by MyRepublic Limited, the New Zealand subsidiary of the Singapore-headquartered MyRepublic Group. The Rocket Mobile brand was launched in November 2023, when the company's New Zealand mobile business was rebranded following the sale of its broadband operations to 2degrees.^[1]^[2]

History

MyRepublic, a Singapore-headquartered telecommunications provider, entered New Zealand's fixed-line broadband market in 2014.^[3] In July 2022, MyRepublic announced its entry into the New Zealand mobile market through a wholesale agreement with Vodafone New Zealand (later renamed One New Zealand), launching unlimited mobile data plans marketed under the tagline "choose the speed you need", with plans branded Rocket Lite, Rocket and Rocket Max.^[3]^[4]

In July 2023, MyRepublic sold its New Zealand broadband customer base to 2degrees, retaining its mobile operations.^[2] On 23 November 2023, the mobile business was rebranded from MyRepublic to Rocket Mobile, continuing to operate as a mobile virtual network operator on the One New Zealand network.^[1]

Services

Rocket Mobile offers unlimited mobile data plans across several speed tiers, along with unlimited calling and texting to New Zealand and Australian numbers. The company markets an "upfront" pricing model with no long-term contracts, no credit checks, and monthly payment in advance by credit or debit card.^[1]

Ownership

Rocket Mobile is operated by MyRepublic Limited, a New Zealand-registered company (NZBN 9429041029671) incorporated on 16 December 2013, with its registered office in Auckland.^[5] MyRepublic Limited is part of the wider MyRepublic Group, a Singapore-headquartered telecommunications provider.^[3]

Reception

Rocket Mobile, and its predecessor MyRepublic Mobile, was named Best Value Mobile Provider at the NZ Compare Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025, marking three consecutive years for the award.^[6]
