Sahand Airlines is an Iranian Airline.^[1]

History

Founded in 2009 it is unclear exactly when they commenced operations though it is known in May of 2011, the Khorasan newspaper reported the explosion of an engine on a Boeing aircraft belonging to Sahand Airlines, which managed to make an emergency landing without any casualties. The aircraft in actuality was a McDonnel Douglas MD 82 operated by Khors Air on behalf of Sahand Airlines.^[2]

After that, in 2017, Engineer Ashkan Ahmadi became the CEO and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company and succeeded in activating two of the company's aircraft.^[3] In 2017 the airline added it's MD 83 fleet.^[4] In 2018 the airline started domestic operations.^[5] On October 18 2019 a Sahand Airlines MD 82 was seized as ordered by a Tehran court.^[6] The court called off the seizure later the same year.^[7]
