Taymor Yasir (Arabic: تيمور ياسر) is a Norwegian journalist and news anchor of Iraqi origin, currently based in London, United Kingdom.
Career
[edit]Yasir gained prominence in media through hosting the popular talk show Shabab wa Banat (Guys and Girls) on Alsumaria TV, a program focused on addressing broad social, political, and youth issues in Iraq and the Arab world.[1] His presentation style and handling of dialogue on Shabab wa Banat received positive coverage in the media, with press commentary noting his structured approach to discussing social issues.[2] The Qatari newspaper Al Raya highlighted the program's coverage of youth issues, noting Yasir's role as one of its core presenters.[3] Yasir served as the lead presenter of the morning talk show Sabah Alsumaria on Alsumaria TV, introducing its daily segments covering social and cultural topics in Iraq.[4][5][6] He subsequently moved to Norway, working in Norwegian media. In November 2016, Yasir appeared on TV 2's morning show God morgen Norge to discuss his journalistic background in Iraq and his work as a news anchor for TV 2 Skole.[7][8] He was also featured in promotional materials for Folkeuniversitetet regarding Norwegian language education programs.[9] In March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Yasir collaborated with Bergen Municipality in Norway to present health and safety information in Arabic for minority communities, an initiative covered by local media including Bergens Tidende.[10] In 2020, Yasir relocated to London to join Al Sharqiya News as a primary news anchor, presenting live news bulletins and hosting special coverage programs for major political events, including the Iraqi parliamentary elections.[11] His media commentary and coverage was also referenced on Al Jazeera's political satire program Foq Al-Sulta.[12] In addition to his television work, Yasir writes analytical and opinion articles for Al-Mustaqell, a pan-Arab newspaper published from London.[13] Yasir has also written analytical articles on media dynamics and broadcasting trends, including commentary on the resilience of traditional television published by Dzayer Info.[14] In September 2026, Yasir addressed live broadcast pressures and newsroom cybersecurity in a featured interview.[15] Also an analytical article examining the impact of artificial intelligence on modern media.[16]
