The Evil Brooch is a 2025 Italian supernatural horror short film written, directed, produced and edited by Rosario Brucato. The film was produced by R.B. Cinema.[1]
The film's post-production was completed in Los Angeles, with final color grading by Walter Volpatto and sound post-production by Eric Paulsen.[2][3] In 2026, The Evil Brooch was named a Finalist at the Bare Bones International Film & Music Festival, a Semi-Finalist at the Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival, and an Official Selection at the Fright Night Film Fest.[4][3][5]
Plot
[edit]The story centers on two brooches associated with opposing supernatural forces. A black brooch is linked to a malevolent presence capable of corrupting and manipulating those around it, while a white brooch, associated with the Virgin Mary, represents protection and spiritual resistance.[1][6]
Kelly becomes caught in the conflict surrounding the two objects as the influence of the black brooch begins to spread. As the supernatural threat intensifies, the white brooch and the faith associated with it become central to resisting the malevolent force.[1]

Production
[edit]The Evil Brooch was produced by R.B. Cinema. The story is credited to Rosario Brucato and Veronica Brucato, while Rosario Brucato wrote the screenplay.[5] Brucato also served as director, producer and editor. Nicola Cattani was the cinematographer, and Frank Gordon Payne Malvolti composed the film's music.[1]
Filming
[edit]Filming took place at the historic Villa Malvolti in Mestre, near Venice. The villa served as the principal filming location.[8]
Post-production
[edit]The film's post-production was completed in Los Angeles. Walter Volpatto performed the final color grading, while Eric Paulsen handled the film's sound post-production.[2][3]
