This article is noteworthy because it highlights a novel targeted therapy option for patients with HER2-
mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and otherwise limited therapeutic options. While there were
considerable and moderately severe side effects, the authors reported an overall response rate of 55% in 91 patients.
This study aided in changes in clinical practice. This study, in addition to DESTINY-Lung 02, provided evidence for FDA approval of the medication in patients with metastatic or unresectable HER2 mutant NSCLC which has progressed on previous therapy.
