    If you're at all interested in having a natural birth (and even if you aren't), this book may just tip the scales for you. It's informative, well-written, personal, and most importantly... it just makes SENSE.

    In this book, Corinne educates the reader about the Societal Birth Bias, which is super enlightening. The part that's really stuck with me, though, are the strategies you can use to reset your mindset around fear in birth. I'm not entering into my birthing experience with any kind of naïveté that it will be a walk in the park, but I am prepared - and dare I say excited - to experience it in its entirety and come out the other side the badass birth goddess I know that I am.

    A couple things for the record: First... I am planning to birth (my first child) in the hospital. It is where I personally feel the safest and while this book whole-heartedly supports home births, I didn't feel ostracized for my choice and it didn't change my preference. What it did do was help me understand how the hospital birth funnel can typically work and prepare me to be ready for - and how to avoid - the interventions that are so easily offered (sometimes forced) in that environment.

    Second: The author, Corinne, is my cousin. I am unquestionably on her cheer squad and that might make this review feel bias. Maybe it is, but I'd argue it isn't. We don't agree on everything and aren't afraid to tell each other that. I can attest to her life-long obsession with birth (I was there for her Cat Doula experience... IYKYK) and the incredible commitment she made to creating the birthing experiences she wanted.

    She is a badass birth goddess, and now it's your turn.

    I really learned so much from the Love Your Labour program which is why I read this. This book is not one I'd pick up again, but I do respect what Corinne is doing to revive unmediated labor.
