Hermes IDE 2.3.4

Everyday prompts come first in the Library, and the commands above each session are rebuilt for every agent.

New

  • The Library opens with "What do you want to do?": type a plain request like "plan a 5-day trip to Lisbon" or "diet", or pick Write, Plan, Learn, Decide and more, and the right prompt comes first.
  • Essentials: the things people ask most, from planning a trip to reviewing a pull request. Each one asks a few questions first, so it works from a blank start.
  • Every category now shows its "Start here" prompts first, then the more specific and advanced ones in their own sections.
  • Words from your search are filled into the prompt for you, so "Lisbon, 5 days" is already there when you open "Plan a trip".
  • Health, money and legal prompts are labelled and include safety checks.
  • The Library has a Recent section, and you can browse each area by category.
  • The prompt picker (⌘J) searches with the task you already typed.
  • The bar above each session now works the same way for every agent, including Antigravity, OpenCode and Kiro: Model, Plan and Review are always in the same place, and you can pin the ones you use.
  • A context meter shows how full the conversation is, and offers Compact when it gets close to full.
  • The Commands list includes your own commands and skills, each with a short description, and your recent ones.

Fixed

  • Clicking a command never touches what you were typing, and it only runs when the agent is waiting.
  • Starting a new chat, resetting or signing out asks first and says what you lose.
  • Command lists match each agent's current version.
  • In short panes, the bars above and below a session fold into its header, so the agent has more room.
  • Scrolling back through a terminal is no longer interrupted when the window resizes.
  • Search no longer comes up empty when not every word matches.
  • A Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI session keeps showing its own model (and its cost) when the conversation mentions another company's model.
  • A session pane no longer stops working at some window widths.
  • Library search answers faster.

Hermes IDE v2.3.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 13 Oct 20:07

Hermes IDE 2.3.3

Attaching a project to a running session tells the agent about it again, and Gemini 4 Argon is ready to use.

Fixed

  • When you attach a project to a running terminal session, the agent now gets the message to read the updated project context. Before, the message could sit unsent in Claude's input box, or never arrive after Hermes restarted, after you had typed something, or when you closed the project picker quickly.
  • Gemini 4 Argon is recognized in terminal sessions, and its estimated cost uses its own price instead of a generic one.
  • A security update for a networking component Hermes uses.

Hermes IDE 2.3.2

Terminal suggestions never offer a password, key or token back to you.

Fixed

  • What you type at a hidden password prompt (sudo, ssh, a script asking for a passphrase) is never remembered or suggested.
  • Commands that hold a secret, such as setting an API key or token, passing a password, an auth header or a URL with a password in it, are never shown as a suggestion or as faded text after the cursor. Your shell's own history is not changed.

Hermes IDE v2.3.1

Hermes IDE 2.3.1

The strip under a session that lists the agent's replies now explains itself and never hides replies past the edge.

Changed

  • The strip is now labelled "Agent replies", with an (i) that explains it. Each chip is one reply from the agent and the lines it changed (+added −removed). Click one to see its changes or restore your files to that point.
  • When there are more replies than fit, the newest ones are shown and a "+N earlier" chip opens a list of every reply, with its time, files and lines changed. You can scroll it and use it with the keyboard.
  • Chips are never cut off at the edge, and the strip still works in narrow split panes.
  • In a task with extra folders, the strip says that it tracks changes in the main project only.

Hermes IDE 2.3.0

Picking a project when you start a task is now quick, even with dozens of projects, and a task can work across several folders at once.

New

  • The project menu in the task launcher has a search box. Start typing a project's name or part of its folder path to find it, then press Enter.
  • Press ⌘P (Ctrl+P on Windows and Linux) in the task launcher to open the project menu.
  • The projects you used most lately appear at the top, and everything else follows in alphabetical order.
  • Each project takes one line, and only the part of its folder path that tells it apart from your other projects is shown.
  • You can remove a project from the list. Its files stay on disk.
  • Projects whose folder no longer exists are listed at the bottom, so you can remove them.
  • "Open folder…" and "New project…" are always visible below the list.
  • Type a folder path into the search box to start a task in a folder that isn't a project yet.
  • Give Claude more than one folder: tick up to 5 extra folders (or press Shift+Enter on one) next to your main project. The project chip shows how many you added, and a line under the chips lists each extra folder with its current branch and any uncommitted changes.
  • Only the main project gets the task's new branch. Extra folders are worked on where they are, on the branch they are on, so you only have one branch to review and land.
  • Hermes tells you when a folder can't be added, for example because it's the same repository as one you already picked or it sits inside your main project.

Changed

  • Anonymous usage statistics are now on by default to help us improve Hermes. They never include your code, prompts, file names or anything that identifies you. If you have turned them off, they stay off, and you can turn them off anytime in Settings > Privacy.

Hermes IDE v2.2.10

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 18:32
9fac196

Hermes IDE 2.2.10

This release adds an occasional, quiet note from the Hermes team at the bottom of the sessions list.

New

  • Now and then a small card at the bottom of the sessions list shares news from the Hermes team, such as what's new in a release, sometimes with a small picture; close it with × and it never comes back.
  • After you have landed a few tasks with Hermes on different days, a card asks whether you would like to star Hermes on GitHub; choose Later to be asked once more in a month, or × to never see it again.
  • These cards never pop up, never send system notifications, never show while an agent is waiting on you or a dialog is open, and appear at most once a week.
  • Hermes checks hermes-ide.com for news at most once a day, without cookies or anything that identifies you.
  • To turn all of this off, switch off "Show notices from the Hermes team" in Settings; Hermes then also stops checking for news.

Hermes IDE v2.2.9

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Oct 14:43
38d171c

Hermes IDE 2.2.9

This release adds New folder… for starting a project from scratch, and fixes problems that build up when Hermes stays open for days or weeks (2.2.8 was never published; its fixes are here).

New

  • Start a project from scratch: New folder… in ⌘N and in the New Session wizard creates a new project folder, like an IDE's New Project. Give it a name and a location, and choose whether it starts with a git repository, a .gitignore, an AGENTS.md for agent instructions (which Claude Code also reads) and a README. The folder is added to the session at once, and the agent starts in it.

Improved

  • The sidebar button that groups sessions is now called "New group", so it is no longer confused with creating a project.

Fixes

  • Pasting a lot of text into a terminal whose program isn't reading it no longer freezes the whole window when you resize, split or close that terminal.
  • Cost and token totals no longer grow while a session sits open: each session's usage is counted once. Totals inflated by earlier versions are corrected on the first launch.
  • Turn history snapshots from tasks that ran in their own worktree are now removed from the repository 14 days after the session closes, as promised.
  • Hermes no longer slows down or uses up the system's file-watch limit when worktrees contain large dependency or build folders.
  • A worktree you choose to keep when closing a session is no longer deleted automatically later.
  • A worktree that could not be removed when its session closed is now retried at the next launch, and launching is faster when old leftover worktrees are lying around.
  • A dropped or slow SSH connection no longer freezes the window.
  • Hermes uses less CPU and battery in the background with many sessions open: git status and memory checks pause while the window is hidden, and idle agent sessions no longer cost more over time.
  • On Linux, closing a terminal that left a background job running no longer keeps the background terminal service alive, so it picks up app updates again.
  • Plugins that follow a session's transcript stop when the session closes, and closing many sessions no longer leaves data behind in memory.
  • Prompt library updates resume after the system clock was briefly set ahead, and the library's local database no longer grows with every catalog update.
  • Old data is now cleaned up over time: saved output of sessions closed more than a month ago, undo data for landed tasks after 14 days, worktree backups after 90 days (with automatic clean-up on), pasted screenshots older than a week, Agent view leftovers when a session closes, and the background terminal service's log.
  • The review desk no longer fills browser storage over months of use, which could stop review progress and preferences from being saved.

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 23:48
f8e542c

Hermes IDE 2.2.7

Fixes

  • Importing a prompts file no longer drops a prompt whose name matches one you already have but whose text is different: it is added as "Name (2)". Only exact duplicates are skipped.

Hermes IDE v2.2.6

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 21:14

Hermes IDE 2.2.6

Fixes

  • Pressing Ctrl-C to stop a program in a terminal now interrupts it once: bash reports the right exit code afterwards, and the next command you type is no longer cut short on Linux.

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Oct 15:56

Hermes IDE 2.2.5

Fixes

  • An agent's first edits after starting are no longer left out of its first turn in the turn history, which happened on slower machines and larger projects.
