My name is Hugh Horatio Phillips, and I’m raising funds to produce a feature-length animated film based on my children’s book, The Spiritual Enlightenment of Baby Tesla. This story is rooted in my own journey of faith and transformation, and it’s inspired by real events from my family’s life in Detroit. After choosing to follow Jesus and dedicating myself to a life of righteousness, God blessed me with the vision for Baby Tesla—a story that reflects the power of faith, forgiveness, and spiritual growth.
The film follows Mariah, also known as Baby Tesla, a 10-year-old African American Hebrew girl who learns to overcome darkness through faith, courage, and wisdom from the Word of God. One of the most powerful moments in the story is when Baby Tesla forgives her enemy, Richie Moorebucks, even after he takes the life of her father. Through her tears, she remembers what Jesus taught her—that in order to be forgiven, we must also forgive others. This act of forgiveness transforms her pain into power, showing children and families that true strength comes from love, mercy, and obedience to God’s Word.

This project will inspire youth to see that God’s Word is alive, powerful, and relevant today. It will highlight faith, family, and the power of purpose, showing children how to overcome evil with good. As the creator of The Spiritual Enlightenment of Baby Tesla, I’ve dedicated my life to uplifting the next generation through creative storytelling rooted in truth and love.
