From the Streets of Agadir to the Heart of Missouri: Help Us Give Three Dogs the Life They Deserve

When we first arrived in Agadir, Morocco, we didn’t expect to find family waiting for us in the streets. But two brown dogs—one a gentle mama, the other her curious youngin —welcomed us like old friends. They lingered near our apartment, not begging, just being. Watching. Trusting. Hoping.

A few weeks later, a third dog appeared. She was white with soft pink undertones, her nose sunburned and raw from sun exposure. She didn’t have the instincts of a street dog—she had clearly been dumped. She followed every passerby with quiet desperation, searching for the human who left her behind. We named her Lucy.

These three souls—Mama, Baby, and Lucy—have since become part of our lives. We’ve vaccinated and chipped them, and Mama has been spayed. The two younger ones are next. Last night, we bathed them, treated them for fleas, massaged rosemary conditioner into their coats, and gave them toys to play with. For the first time, they slept deeply. No flinching. No one-eye-open survival. Just rest.

But rest isn’t enough. They deserve safety. They deserve love. They deserve a future.

We’ve found foster homes in Springfield, Missouri, ready to welcome them with open arms. What we need now is help covering the cost of transporting them to the States. Every dollar donated to our GoFundMe page goes directly toward their care and relocation and all monies over the needed amount will be donated to SARA shelter in Agadir Morocco. They helped us get Lucy out of the pound and brought her to us. They have been by our side during this ordeal.

We know times are hard. But Lucy’s story—barely surviving in the city pound, where small dogs are kept in general population and euthanized by gunshot if unclaimed—reminds us why we must act. She was starving. Alone. And she still believed in people.

Our own dogs have embraced these three as siblings. They play together, sleep together, and share a language of healing only animals understand. Now we’re asking fellow dog lovers to help us complete this journey—from abandonment to belonging.
