Hi, my name is Ruth. I am a Canadian, helping my Gazan friend and sister Deema in her quest to raise the money she needs to fund her education. Let me introduce you:
Meet Deema. Deema is a brilliant young woman with big dreams. She is smart, talented, caring, kind, and driven. Deema is currently in her 3rd year of studies in Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. Deema was only in her first year when the war started. Even though her university was bombed to rubble, yet despite constant airstrikes, internet outages, lack of electricity, and fear for her life, Deema nevertheless diligently continued her studies, working hard to achieve her dream of becoming a Dermatologist.
Unfortunately, even with a ceasefire, life in Gaza remains difficult and complicated. Because of this, Deema is hoping to continue her education at Ain Shams university in Cairo, Egypt, and to do this she needs your help. Our first goal is to raise CAD$5000 to cover Deema's application and student visa fees (because there is no doubt that a student of Deema's calibre will be accepted!), and the first semester of tuition fees. Once we reach this goal, we will increase the amount to raise money needed for housing and living allowances and the next semester's tuition. I will be collecting the funds on Deema's behalf, and the money will be sent via bank transfer to her brother in Turkey, Dr. Mohammed Aslan to distribute to Deema. For the sake of simplicity, when expenses can be paid online, like tuition fees, etc., Mohammed will use the funds to pay those directly on Deema's behalf. For anything that requires Deema to pay in person (e.g. documents or visa fees that she may need to arrange from Gaza), Mohammed will forward the necessary funds to the family's bank account so that Deema can withdraw cash.
If you know Deema already from our previous campaign supporting her family throughout the war in Gaza, then please consider continuing to support our habibty in working towards her dreams. If you are new, then welcome, and thank you for your support and solidarity in helping a young, bright woman in a difficult situation to take control of her future and work towards her dreams.
