Summer is winding down but Mutual aid is forever. I am launching a GOFUNDME to raise funds to support Anontio in buying a manual wheelchair with a power assist attachment, and an extra battery to allow him flexibility, autonomy and space to foster confidence and safety during his transition into life as a ambulatory wheelchair user.

While Anontio and I are thankful to be provided a wheelchair through the VA, it does not reflect the personality of an active community leader and a big kid who wants to do skateboarding tricks in his chair. Nor does the chair allow him flexibility and autonomy, currently if this chair dies or malfunctions there is no way for Anontio to be able to move by himself in his chair and the fear of being pushed without his permission and inability to stop the chair himself lingers.

Right now, We are looking to get a Sunrise / Quickie (Model No. EISP9) with a Empulse R20 Power Assist so Antonio can choose WHEN and HOW he moves in his chair with more comfort and ability to customizable the look so his wheelchair can truly be his.

Currently, this chair costs 2,402$ on its own and with an extra battery totals to 2,913$.

We are looking to raise 3,150$ to cover the costs of his wheelchair, a new battery and any future transfer costs and potentially a portable ramp to attach onto his wheelchair.

Antonio deserves to be able to navigate, play, move, stop, turn and go on his own terms and in style no matter where he goes and I hope to raise these funds by the end of Summer.

For Antonio to have a wheelchair that fits his needs and personality means everything, I ask that folks share this with your friends, networks, churches, communities, at events, and so forth so we can do our best to support a community member in being able to move through the world and future events within our community a little bit safer, more in control and in style.

Note: I have submitted to three separate grants in hopes of receiving funds for his wheelchair, if we receive any funds, I will edit the fundraising goal and update the community and if anyone knows of any organizations that support folks who need support in getting mobility aids like Toni, REACH OUT.
