My name is Brandy, and I’m the proud mom of a brave 12-year-old boy named Collier. In April, our lives changed forever when he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.
Since his diagnosis, Collier has already been through more than any child should:
A craniotomy to remove the brain tumor
Port placement for chemotherapy
Multiple MRIs, CT scans, and spinal taps, with more still ahead
Daily radiation (Monday–Friday for 6 weeks) combined with outpatient chemotherapy
➤ This has required us to stay away from home five days a week
We are now finishing up radiation and preparing for even more aggressive chemotherapy — with monthly hospitalizations, continued outpatient chemo, and weekly or biweekly oncology visits. All treatments are two hours away from our home, each way.
Collier will not be able to attend school this year due to his suppressed immune system and the side effects of treatment. I’ll be helping him learn at home, while also managing his care full time.
I’ve taken FMLA from my job as a Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) nurse, and I’ve now used up all of my FMLA hours and PTO. When this began, I asked if I could work remotely — but that wasn’t an option. I’ve since applied for numerous remote jobs and haven’t received a single callback.
Right now, Collier needs me more than ever. I am his comfort, his security, and his safe place.
Collier is very apprehensive about me having to return to work. He finds comfort and security knowing I’m by his side during every treatment, appointment, and challenging day. Being apart would be incredibly hard on him emotionally and could impact his healing. That’s why your support means so much — it helps keep our family together when it matters most.
We’re asking for help to cover the essentials that would allow me to stay with my son:
House payment, utilities, groceries
Travel expenses (gas, parking, hotel stays when needed)
Ongoing bills while I remain out of work to care for him
Support with home-schooling and care at home
He also has a 22-year-old sister who travels back and forth to be with us when she can — and her presence brings him much joy.
If you can donate, you’ll be helping us survive this storm — so I can focus on what matters most: Collier’s healing.
If you can’t give, please consider sharing our story and praying for him and our family.
About Our Goal:
GoFundMe uses an automated goal setting feature that starts our fundraiser with a realistic initial goal of $13,000. As donations come in, the goal will gradually adjust to reflect our ongoing needs. This helps build momentum and encourages more support. Our true needs are higher, but starting with this amount makes it easier for people to contribute and help us along this difficult journey. We will keep updating you on our progress and what your generosity is making possible. Thank you for being part of our story.
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you for standing with us.
