evaluations from the girls and giving out programs-yay or nay?
I've taken over a unit of 5-10 year olds this year. (how to plan for girls who are 5 and those 10 and even 11 is proving a bit of a challenge as well) I jsut wanted to ask members of this community what they thought about a few things, because the leader i took over from didnt do osme of these actvities, but others i know do.
Evaluating with the girls would have to be important, right? Sorry if that's obvious but i doubt that the leader i took over from did this at all. After my first meeting i asked the girls to put thier thumbs up if they liked the night, thumbs down if thye didnt( closing eyes first so that thye weren't biased by what their friends were picking) They were surprised to evne be asked, but seemed to really appreciate it.
I've also thought of making a comment sheet, choosing stickers and placing them in a good/ok/bad coloumn, picking a lolly which best represents how thye feel about the night. Does anyone have any other ideas? Do you evaluate after the whole might or after an activity? I work in OSHC and Vacation Care,so I'm owndering if my insistence on evaluating has something to do with that. Is evaluating (whether as that word or even an 'asking everyone how it went question') important to you as Leaders or is it only done sometimes?
Also,do you give your girls/their parents a copy of the term's program? Other Units I know do,but some Leaders say that older girls can read and then choose which nights thye will come to.
