[MOD POST] FAQ / RULES FOR EARNING POINTS
In addition to the general community rules, the following rules must be followed when posting graphics for points for your house at
hogwartsishome.
hogwartsishome.| POSTING FOR POINTS | EXAMPLES & NOTES |
| 1. HP-Centric & New to HiH: Only Harry Potter-relatedϟ graphics that are made for Hogwarts Icons - meaning haven't already earned points in this or any other HiH community, and have no text (on the graphic) claiming they were made for another comm - will qualify for points. (If they have already earned points in another HIH comm, you may still post them here, but don't add them into your points tally. If they have text proving they were made for somewhere else*, they will not earn points.) *This does not include 'Friends Only' text. ϟThis includes: 2. No Fake-Cuts: In order to get points, all graphics must be posted directly to the community, behind an LJ cut. 3. Number Graphics: Number all graphics for easier reference. Not required but it makes the life of your loving mod oh so much easier. 4. Four Variations: No more than four variations (graphics with only minor changes, such as texture-use or colouring) of a graphic in one post will count for points. This goes for text-only icons too. Examples are on the right. 5. Points Tally: Include a points tally, followed by your name, house, and time zone at the bottom of your post, outside of the lj-cut (ie, after </lj-cut>). See the right column for an example of this. Points are given as follows: 6. Weekly Limit: You may only earn 125 points per week. The weekly cut-off is Sunday at 11:59pm UTC (timezones). Note that if you posted towards the end of the week, your post may still be in the submissions queue when the week is reset. Your post will count for points the week you submitted it, not the week it's actually posted, so you can still post again the next week. 7. Mod Requests: If a moderator asks you to change something in your post and you don't, the contents of your post will not be counted for points. 8. Tags: Tag your post before you submit it to the queue. Please tag it in the following way: !please post to tumblr, artist: letter/number/_, hih: house: yourhouse, hih: term ##, type: graphictypemade PLEASE NOTE: ▸ The !please post to tumblr tag is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. If you would like your items posted to the community tumblr please use this tag. ▸ The tags should all be available to you and if by some chance certain ones have not been added in yet, don't fret. The mods will add them and then tag whatever you missed. ▸ Please do not use any tags with "mod" in them. ▸ You can have multiple type tags if your post has multiple types of graphics in it. These tags align directly to the points structure above so it should be pretty intuitive when to use which tag. Feel free to ask questions though! |
Variations: ![]() ![]() Variations have changes in texture, colouring, text, etc. but still use the same base image or background (or else the same image, only differently cropped). The changes may be minor, but must still be noticeable to count for points. For larger graphics in particular, please see this post for more details on variations. Points Tally: 20 icons x 4pts = 80 3 banners x 8pts = 24 2 wallpapers x 12 points = 24 80 + 24 + 24 = Your Name//Your House//please post to tumblr The tumblr part is optional. Please add this if you want the Order to post your graphics to tumblr. REMEMBER! Your points tally and username//house should be outside your lj cut! 100x100 Base vs. Icon -> ![]() A base is the beginning of an icon. A 100x100 square image is considered a base if it has only been sharpened, been re-touched in minor ways, and/or had minor colour alterations made to it. It is not an icon until multiple effects (i.e., textures, selective colouring, gradients, fill layers, etc.) have been added. Text icons are icons that feature mainly the text, such as those in the 3rd set of variations shown above. Larger Graphics Graphics larger than 100x100 must have multiple noticeable changes to them to qualify for points. See the description of an 'icon' above for more information. Please note that if the mods don't feel that enough effort has been put into the graphics, they may be denied for points. Additionally, graphics that are the same in design but different sizes (for instance, two sizes of a wallpaper) will only count for points once. Colourbars: Here and here are a couple of examples of these, made by Tumblr Graphics: Standard width for these graphics are 500px. Otherwise you are free to (mostly) do as you please length wise. Within reason, obviously. Wallpapers are graphics larger than 800x600 that have an aspect ratio of 5:4, 4:3, 16:10, or 16:9. If you're confused, please see this Wikipedia article for more details. Fanmixes A fanmix is defined as having each of the following components present in one post: ▸ a square 400-500 PX per side front cover graphic with the title of your mix ▸ a square 400-500 PX back cover graphic with the songs and artists included ▸ links to no less than five songs on YouTube or a similar website Please note that download links are not accepted in this community. If you submit a post with download links, it will be rejected from the queue and you will not receive points until you rectify and resubmit. Also, songs may not be used more than once a month. This means you cannot reuse the same song in multiple fanmixes during a calendar month. Your post will be rejected if you are found doing so. |
