Bang Ye Dam (Korean: 방예담; Japanese: バンイェダム; also known simply as Yedam and Dimo Rex) is a South Korean singer-songwriter under GF Entertainment. He is a former member of the boy group TREASURE.
He made his solo debut on November 23, 2023 with the mini album Only One.
Career[]
2012: K-pop Star 2[]
In 2012, Bang Ye Dam participated in the second season of the reality show K-Pop Star finishing in second place and signing a contract with YG Entertainment.[3]
2018–2019: YG Treasure Box and TREASURE 13[]
In 2018, Bang Ye Dam participated in YG Entertainment's new survival show, YG Treasure Box. On the final episode, he was announced as the second member of the boy group, later called TREASURE.
On January 29, 2019, YGE announced that he would form a second group from the show, called MAGNUM and together with TREASURE, they would promote together as TREASURE 13. Unfortunately, due to scandals surrounding the agency, the debut was postponed.
2020–2022: New debut plans, "Wayo", TREASURE, departure from YG Entertainment[]
On January 6, 2020, YGE posted a notice on their official website stating the group's future plans. This included re-organizing as a 12-member group and the integration of the two units, TREASURE and MAGNUM, into only one group named simply as TREASURE.
On May 21, YG Entertainment officially announced that Bang Ye Dam's solo single would be released in June through a fan announcement. YG explained, "We've been preparing Bang Ye Dam's solo music before TREASURE was formed" and added, "We've decided that it would be a good decision to release a song that was completed in June, prior to TREASURE’s debut, as a surprise gift for the fans". On May 27, the first promotional photo for the song was revealed through YG Enterteinment's social networks.[4]
On May 28, it was announced that the single would be called "Wayo" along with a second promotional photo posted on YG Enterteinment's social networks.[5] It was released on June 5.
He officially debuted as a member of TREASURE on August 7 with the group's first single album "The First Step : Chapter One".
On November 8, 2022, YG Entertainment announced that he, along with Mashiho, who had been on hiatus from the group since May, had ended their contracts with the company and left TREASURE. Bang Ye Dam would be pursuing his career as a producer.[6] In a November 2023 interview, he revealed that he left the group because he wanted to show his colors more and release music more often.[7]
2023: Signing with GF Entertainment, "Miss You", solo debut with Only One, fandom name[]
On August 24, 2023, Bang Ye Dam announced via an Instagram post that he had signed a contract with GF Entertainment to resume his activities as a solo artist and producer.[8]
On October 30, Bang Ye Dam opened his SNS accounts. Additionally, GF Entertainment announced that he would be releasing a pre-release single "Miss You" on November 10 before making his solo debut with his first mini album Only One on November 23.[9]
On November 24, Bang Ye Dam's solo fandom name was announced, which was revealed to be "YeloDy", a portmanteau of his first name and "melody".[2] On December 8, the fandom name was changed to "BY:D". The name represents the idea of being together with Bang Ye Dam in the future, expressing the idea of being by his side as his most precious existence.[1]
2024: "Officially Cool", Good Vibes, "Like Yesterday"[]
On March 12, 2024, it was announced that Bang Ye Dam would be releasing a new digital single on April 2.[10] On March 14, it was confirmed that he would be collaborating with aespa's Winter.[11] The title of the single was later revealed to be "Officially Cool".[12]
On August 13, Bang Ye Dam announced that he would be releasing his second mini album Good Vibes on August 29.[13]
On October 20, he released the digital single "Like Yesterday" as part of the SBS music variety show The Listen: We Together Again.

On February 5, 2021, Bang Ye Dam graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul's department of practical music.[14]
On May 27, 2022, YG Entertainment announced that TREASURE would temporarily promote with 10 members as Bang Ye Dam wished to focus on studying music for the time being in order to improve his potential as a producer and Mashiho was currently resting in Japan.[15]
