As a student Ambassador for 2 years I had the honor and privilege to help connect students with other departments,Resources they need,& Faculty to help assist them as best as possible. I would even Help students navigate our campus better and give them a Campus tour and connect with them to make them feel welcomed and valued as best as possible because your presence matters as students and its what SMC truly stands for. I would even help with Campus events like VIP welcome Day ,and other campus events. I would even help students apply to SMC,guide them step by step on how to navigate the campus better most importantly  make them feel valued, and welcomed. I would also go with the Out reach & Recruiting Specialist from our team and explain to new incoming students or Students that were future college students and get to talk to them and connect with them and show them how a life in a day to day basis is for a student on college and motivate them to pursue their dreams and aspirations .

What I did as a Student Ambassador

I would be helping my Director go to the Mondays Board meetings and here about the changes and activities would be approved and processed . I would also help my director with planning the upcoming events that were apart of the ICC team and got to work with the other ICC Directors like the ICC CHAIR & ICC Communications officer. I would also volunteer and work with the A.S. Directors for other campus events sponsored by A.S. like the A.S President,A.S Vice President,A.S. Activities Director A.S. Sustainability Director and so on to make the events great and enjoyable for the students . I even had the pleasure of having really good conversations  with students & faculty  members about the events and how enjoyable they are. At last I got the opportunity to  earn both the trust and respect of the Students & Faculty members I would have the opportunity to  talk to.

My name is Daniel Martinez, and I am running to become your Student Trustee for the 2024-2025 academic year. You all may be asking what does a student trustee mean or do. What a student trustee does and represents is being the voice of the students between students and The board of trustees which are the governing board of SMC and make decisions on programs,policy changes and so  on .
I am here because I want to be an advocate for change—change that addresses the needs of all students, especially those who are in need of them . My priorities include supporting basic needs, advocating for first-generation students, undocumented students, international students, and low-income students.
These issues are deeply personal to me. As a first-generation student myself, I know what it's like to navigate the challenges of higher education with limited resources. I have also worked closely with undocumented students, advocating for their right to pursue their dreams through education.

Additionally, as a former student ambassador and Primary commissioner for the former ICC-VICE Chair , I’ve had the privilege of connecting with international students, many of whom face unique struggles due to lack of funding, resources, and educational support. These students deserve equal access to the opportunities and resources available to others, and I will fight to make that a reality.
Coming from South Central Los Angeles, I have seen firsthand the impact of socioeconomic challenges on access to higher education. I understand why basic needs like housing, food security, and mental health services are essential for student success.
If elected as your Student Trustee, I will work tirelessly to represent all of us—fighting for better programs, more resources, and greater equality. Together, we can make history by building a more inclusive and supportive community at SMC.

Hello everyone, my name is Daniel Martinez. I am a first-generation American student with a deep connection to my Mexican heritage. My parents immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. in pursuit of a better future, and their journey has profoundly shaped my commitment to community and leadership.I am running for the position of Student Trustee Director because I believe I have the experience, dedication, and passion to serve our diverse student body effectively. Over the past three years, I have actively contributed to the campus community through various leadership roles. As a former Student Ambassador at the Welcome Center in the Student Services Center, I had the privilege of assisting students and staff alike. This role was incredibly rewarding, as it allowed me to represent Santa Monica College and help others navigate their college journey. In addition to my role as a Student Ambassador, I served as the Primary Commissioner for the former ICC Vice Chair.
