In the third episode of Musawah Lighthouse, we will be commemorating the 10th anniversary since the publication of 'Men in Charge? Rethinking Authority in Muslim Legal Tradition'. Together, we will take a look back at how the ‘Rethinking Qiwamah and Wilayah’ research project culminated into this edited volume, touching on the importance of merging women’s lived reality, activism and knowledge. We will also reflect on how it has inspired a new generation of thinkers and activists. This episode will feature a conversation between the hosts with Dr Ziba Mir-Hosseini, co-founder of Musawah and one of the editors of the book; and Sarah Marsso, an activist-researcher who is a part of Musawah.

We are: Musawah ('equality' in Arabic) is a global movement for equality and justice in the Muslim family. It was launched in February 2009 at a Global Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia attended by over 250 women and men from some 50 countries from around the globe. Musawah is pluralistic and inclusive, bringing together NGOs, activists, scholars, legal practitioners, policy makers and grassroots women and men from around the world. Our Vision: A world where equality, non-discrimination, justice, and dignity are the basis of all human relations. Our Goal: A global movement for equality and justice in the Muslim family, which advances human rights for women in Muslim contexts, in both their public and private lives.
