Olivia Sparkhall is a multi award-winning choral composer and conductor, belonging to a long tradition of choral composer-conductors whose practice is informed by vocal pedagogy and an understanding of the capabilities of the voice. This research-informed work has been widely lauded, praising the juxtaposition of contemporary harmony and chant-like melodies, the ethereal writing, and the effectiveness of the compositions to move the listener. Olivia’s works have been performed internationally, broadcast on BBC radio and television, and recorded by Chandos and Resonus Classics. Hear, O Ye Kings won the 3 Choirs Festival competition (2022). Dona nobis pacem was short-listed in the Cappella Nova competition (2018), and sung on BBC Radio 3 as part of the broadcast of Choral Evensong on both the eve of Armistice Day, and on Remembrance Sunday, 2021.
