At Bronxdoghaven, we are dedicated to improving the lives of pets and their owners in underprivileged communities. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we provide essential goods like food, leashes, collars, and supplies to those in need. Our mission includes rescuing animals and giving them the time and care to heal both physically and emotionally. By nurturing their minds and spirits with love and affection, we prepare them for their forever homes. We also help pet owners find affordable or free vaccination services, spay and neuter programs, and organize a bi-monthly pantry, easing the financial burden of pet care.

Can I Foster to Adopt?

Yes, foster to adopt is an option. Please be aware that if you choose to proceed with adoption, the standard adoption fee will still apply. Additionally, any items provided during the foster period must be returned.

How much is pet sitting?

How much is dog walking?

What’s a pet pop-up visit?

A Pet Pop-Up Visit is a quick check-in to make sure your pet is doing okay while you’re away. It includes the essentials. Like refreshing water, feeding, a potty break, and a quick safety check of the main areas. Think of it as a short, in andout visit focused on basic care and peace of mind, compared to Pet Sitting or Boarding, which offer more in depth, extended, or personalized care. Perfect for pets who don’t need a lot of hands on attention but still deserve a little love while you're gone!

When is your next pet pantry?

We’re excited to share that our next pet pantry will take place on April 26th from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM in the Bronx (first come, first served). As always, we kindly ask that you check the flyer posted on our social media for full details and RSVP. RSVP is required, and you must bring your pet in order to receive supplies. Thank you all so much for your continued support and patience. We look forward to seeing you there.

Why is there an Adoption fee?

This fee helps cover the cost of care. Such as vaccinations, spay/neuter, and any medical treatment the pet may have received. It also helps support the care of our other rescues and pets from families in need.

Is the pet pantry a FREE event?

The pet pantry event is completely free to attend, and all pet supplies are free to take. The only exception is pet gear like leashes, harnesses, and collars, which are now priced between $2 and $5 each.

What kinds of donations can I give?

Pretty much anything pet-related! We gladly accept new or gently used items, including but not limited to: Toys Pet beds Pet clothes Grooming supplies Carriers and crates Leashes, collars, and harnesses Pet food and treats (dry or canned) Cleaning supplies Financial contributions Donations are not required, but they truly help us continue our work, as we rely heavily on community support. We are always in greater need of cat supplies than dog supplies, so those are especially appreciated. Every contribution makes a meaningful impact. Thank you for your generosity!

Where is the Pet Pantry located?

The pet pantry is located at E 154 ST & Morris Ave Bronx, NY 10451 United States (Right across the street from the Gas Station).

What are donations being used for?

Donations help support the pets in our care and the pet owners in our community. If a donation is made for a specific pet, the items will accompany that pet when adopted. Donations not designated for a particular pet are used to provide food, supplies, and care for other pets in need. Thank you for your generous support!

What other services do you provide?

In addition to helping people find affordable or free vaccinations and spay & neuter appointments, we also hold a pet pantry every other month. We offer affordable or free trainings, dog walks, pet boarding and pet sitting, and so much more! Please feel free to reach out if you need any assistance. Our goal is to bridge the gap for low-income pet owners. Join us in celebrating pet ownership!

Do you provide delivery for supplies?

No. We do not personally deliver supplies under any circumstances. We provide supplies free of charge or at very low cost to support underprivileged pet parents with demonstrated need. Due to limited resources, approved recipients must be able to pick up supplies in the Bronx. If pickup is difficult due to distance or heavy items, recipients may arrange a third party delivery service (such as Uber or Lyft’s delivery/courier option) to retrieve supplies.

What is provided at your pet pantrys?

We do our best to provide as many supplies as possible in addition to pet food, such as leashes, harnesses, collars, cat litter, toys, and more. However, since we rely on donations, availability may vary, and these items may not be offered at every event.

Can I reach out if I ever need anything?

What is the process for re-homing a pet?

To rehome a pet, please complete our “Surrender Form” so we have all the necessary information for the adoption process. Due to our limited capacity, Bronxdoghaven cannot house surrendered or homeless pets at this time, and intake for 2026 is currently closed. Only fill out the form if the pet can remain in your care until a suitable adopter or foster is found. Resources and Assistance: If the pet cannot stay in your care, we are happy to provide guidance and resources for rehoming, WHEN REQUESTED. You can contact us directly via email or send a direct message on our social media for support. We understand this may be difficult, and our goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of every animal. Thank you for helping us provide the best care possible within our capacity.

Do you know any affordable pet Groomers?

Yes! We do. Feel free to text us for a list of affordable pet groomers. However, please note that we are not in direct contact with these businesses, so prices and services are subject to change. We recommend reaching out to the groomers directly for the most accurate and up to date information.

What is the process for adopting or fostering?

Thank you for your interest in adopting or fostering a pet! Please complete the Adoption Form or Foster Form available on our page. Once submitted, kindly allow us some time to get back to you. Before adoption or fostering, all pets undergo a thorough vetting process to ensure they are placed in the most suitable home. This includes scheduling vaccinations and spaying or neutering, as well as conducting home checks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. Please note: an adoption fee applies if you are interested in adopting, while fostering is free. The adoption fee can be paid via Cash App, Zeffy, PayPal, or Chime, and helps support the care of other pets awaiting adoption.

What do I receive when I adopt a pet from you?

Do you require all my pets to come to the pantry?

NO! It is mandatory to have at least ONE of your PETS with you during our pantry events. If you’re requesting dog supplies, a dog must be present. If you need cat supplies, a cat must be present. If you need supplies for both, you’ll need to bring one of each. You’re welcome to bring more than one or two pets if you’d like, but we understand it can be inconvenient. Which is why it’s NOT required to bring ALL of your pets.

How do I go about volunteering with Bronxdoghaven?

We’re excited to hear that you’re interested in volunteering with us! We’re always looking for passionate individuals to join our team. Please fill out the volunteer form if you’d like to support our mission.

Why am I being asked to sign in when I visit a form?

You are being asked to sign in because we have had to put this measure in place due to people previously entering incorrect email addresses, which prevented us from being able to contact them about events. Signing in helps ensure we have accurate contact information and can communicate important updates.

Why can’t I just pick what I want during the pantry?

We understand that everyone has preferences for the supplies they receive, but we kindly ask that participants do not pick and choose items, unless your pet has a specific allergy, disability, or special need. We rely heavily on donations, and often do not receive large quantities of the same brands or types of supplies. To keep things fair, we make sure everyone gets at least something before allowing any extra selections. If there are leftover items at the end, you’re welcome to choose from what’s available. We also recommend arriving as early as possible, since many people wait for hours beforehand. This ensures that those who come early have the first opportunity to pick the items they need most.

Whats the difference between boarding vs pet sitting?

Pet Sitting: It is exactly what it sounds like. We come to your home to care for your pet. This does not include an overnight stay, but it is longer than a quick pop-in visit. It’s ideal for pets who do best in their familiar home environment. Pet Boarding: Involves an overnight stay for your dog or cat, either at our home or yours. This option provides personalized care and 24/7 supervision, making it ideal for pets who need constant attention or extended care. Both options include love, playtime, and attention, just in different settings depending on your pet’s needs.

If I RSVP for the last event, do I have to do it again?

Yes, even if you RSVP’d for the previous event, you will need to RSVP again. While the event operates on a first-come, first-served basis, RSVP is mandatory to help us ensure an efficient process and accurately anticipate attendance. Thank you for your cooperation!

Why it is mandatory for me to bring my pet to the pantry?

Having at least one of your pets present at events like our pantry helps us show potential sponsors and donors the true need in our community, allowing us to secure more support and continue providing free resources. It also ensures we can match the right supplies to your pet’s specific needs. Bringing your pet truly makes a difference and helps us keep supporting families in need!

Where are the spay/neuter and vaccination appointments located?

While we do our best to secure appointments in the Bronx, as it is our most requested location, the appointment location may vary depending on availability, since we take whatever appointments we can get. This applies only if you signed up through our spay/neuter or vaccination form. Information about the appointment, including the location, will be shared with you once an appointment becomes available. If, however, we sent you a list of affordable vet clinics, you will need to choose the clinic (and location) you want to visit, as we are not in direct contact with those clinics.

What should I do if I didn’t receive a copy of the form I just signed?

If you didn’t receive a copy of the form you just signed, here are a few steps you can take: 1. Wait a few minutes as sometimes the confirmation email isn’t sent immediately. 2. Check your spam or junk folder, as it may not appear in your primary inbox. 3. Send us a DM to make sure your information is correct, since sometimes the form can have technical issues.

What are the drop-off and pick-up times for spay and neuter appointments?

For spay and neuter appointments, drop-off is scheduled for 7:45 AM and pick-up is at 4:00 PM, unless we inform you otherwise.

Do my dogs or cats need to be leashed or in a carrier during the pantry?

Yes! There will be many people and a variety of animals with different personalities at the pantry. You never know how your pet may react, so we want to make the event as safe and secure as possible. To help with this, all pets must be leashed or in a carrier. This is an important safety measure to protect everyone attending and to ensure that no pets get lost or go missing.

Why wouldnt I just go to the emergency pantry instead of the pet pantry?

We strongly encourage everyone to attend our main pantry event and to RSVP in advance, as this ensures access to the full range of available supplies. The emergency pantry operates only with whatever items remain after the main event. While we do our best to have some food available, we cannot guarantee it. Additionally, there may be times when the emergency pantry is not offered at all. We understand that the main event date may not work for everyone’s schedule, which is why we offer the emergency pantry as an alternative option when possible.

Do you offer pet sitting or boarding services for cats in addition to dogs?

Yes! We offer pet sitting and boarding for cats as well.

When will I be contacted regarding an appointment for spay/neuter or vaccinations?

Once you’ve completed the form for the service you’re interested in (spay/neuter or vaccination), we will reach out to inform you of the next available appointment as soon as a slot opens up. Our form acts as a waitlist, and we have very limited appointments each month. If you haven’t heard back from us this month, you will most likely be scheduled for the following month. If, however, we sent you a list of affordable vet clinics, you will need to contact them directly to schedule your appointment, as we are not in direct contact with those clinics.

If I foster a pet, will I be responsible for any of the supplies or medical expenses?

No! All supplies and medical costs for any pets fostered through us are fully covered. We simply ask that you open your heart and home, and provide the time, love, and care they need and deserve.

What should I do if my pet is reactive toward other people or animals during the pantry?

We completely understand that not all pets are comfortable around many strangers or other animals. If your pet needs to step away, please let one of our staff members know you’re here for the pantry. We’ll happily hold your place in line while you wait somewhere else for to help your pet feel more comfortable.
