What is success? Society would have you believe it’s a simple formula, a measurable assessment of all you have achieved. What’s your job title? Are you married? Do you have children? How many followers do you have on social media? These kind of indicators project an idea of success attainable to an elite few. But what happens if we haven’t managed to hit those milestones? By default this definition of success suggests the majority of us are living unsuccessful lives; a myth which, for the sake of our mental health and wellbeing, desperately needs overturning. In this TedX Talk, Tola Fisher considers the factors that lead us to worship this idea of value through achievement and why it’s vitally important to change our thinking – and now.
