Kanea Environmental Solutions LLC supports the efforts of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to accelerate scrap tire pile cleanup. Scrap tires pose well-documented risks, including serving as mosquito breeding habitats and creating fire hazards that are difficult to extinguish and can release harmful emissions. Despite existing programs, illegal dumping and tire accumulation persist. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has documented that hundreds of millions of scrap tires have historically accumulated across the United States, demonstrating the scale and persistence of the issue. From a field perspective in Mecklenburg County, smaller and decentralized tire accumulations, service delays, and overflow conditions remain ongoing challenges. Disposal
