Benefits of Joining the National Guard

1. What exactly is the Army National Guard?
The Army National Guard is a part-time military service that allows students to serve their state and country while going to school or starting a career. Most members serve one weekend per month and two weeks during the summer.

2. How does this help pay for college?
The North Carolina Army National Guard offers education benefits that can significantly reduce or fully cover the cost of college.

- 100% tuition and fees at NC community colleges and NC Promise schools
- Tuition assistance for other colleges and universities
- Additional funding for books, fees, and other expenses

All benefits are based on eligibility and state funding availability.


3. Do I have to go Active Duty?
No. This is a part-time commitment. You can attend college full-time while serving in the Guard.

4. Will this interfere with school?
No. The schedule is designed to work around school:
- One weekend per month
- Two weeks in the summer
