HandMade in Japan Fes' 2025: The Ultimate Guide (Tickets, Access & Tips)

Good day, everyone.

On your journey through Japan, are you searching for a truly memorable keepsake? Not just another ordinary item, but a special treasure imbued with the spirit and passion of its creator.

Today, it is my pleasure to guide you through the charms of Japan's largest festival for creators, HandMade in Japan Fes' 2025, and show you how to make the most of this wonderful event.

Why Does This Event Attract So Much Attention?

This festival is frequently featured in both domestic and international media, and for good reason. It is a rare and celebrated occasion where the "now" of Japan's creativity and talent gather in one place.

The sight of over 3,000 gifted artists from across the nation, assembling to showcase their finest creations, is nothing short of spectacular. The moment you step into the venue, you will feel it in the air—this is not merely a market, but a special space where you can connect with the very essence of Japanese craftsmanship, or monozukuri. It is a summer celebration eagerly awaited by those who appreciate true artistry.

Three Wonderful Experiences Await You at the Venue

1. Encounters with One-of-a-Kind Creations That Inspire the Senses The pieces on display are all unique, a world apart from mass-produced goods. From delicate crafts that showcase brilliant traditional techniques to modern art that sparkles with contemporary sensibility, and even adorable trinkets that will bring a smile to your face. Works from every imaginable genre are here to stimulate your senses and lead you to new discoveries. We invite you to experience the thrill of a treasure hunt to find that perfect piece, the one that is uniquely yours.

2. Heartwarming Interactions Where You Can Feel the Creator's Passion Having the opportunity to hear about the stories and background of a piece directly from the artist who made it—this is truly the most precious experience this event offers. When you learn the thoughts and feelings that went into each creation, its brilliance shines even brighter. Through this warm communication, you will take home not just an object, but a cherished memory.

3. A Festive Space to be Enjoyed with All Five Senses The venue is filled with the pleasant sounds of live music and the delightful aroma of creative foods. In between shopping, you can watch live painting performances by artists or take a break with a carefully selected food or drink. A festive atmosphere, ready to be enjoyed throughout the day with your eyes, ears, and palate, awaits you.

For Our Visitors: Helpful Information for Your Visit

Now, allow me to provide some practical information to help you enjoy the event comfortably and deeply.

1. About Payment Methods and ATMs Many of the vendors at the event are individual creators operating on a small scale. For this reason, quite a few booths may not accept credit cards. To ensure a smooth shopping experience, we strongly recommend preparing a sufficient amount of cash in Japanese Yen. Should you need more cash, ATMs are available in the entrance hall of Tokyo Big Sight and inside the nearest station, Kokusai-Tenjijo Station.

2. About Tax-Free Shopping Please note that unlike department stores, tax-free procedures are not available at the individual booths at this event. We thank you for your understanding as you enjoy the wonderful creations on offer.

3. Simple Phrases for Enjoying Interaction with Creators Why not try speaking a little Japanese? The creators will surely be delighted.
