We explain using the fast method called “Both Drop,” which is accepted in the official exam by the Japan Abacus Federation, the top authority in the abacus world.

2桁×2桁のかけ算のやり方 -How to Multiply 2-Digit by 2-Digit Numbers-

そろばん10〜8級までは、かける数が1ケタでしたが、そろばん7級ではかける数が2桁になります！

In Abacus Levels 10 to 8, the multiplier was a single digit, but in Level 7, the multiplier becomes two digits!

On note, we will highlight examples ③, ④, and ⑤!

36×51＝？

36は2桁、51は2桁なので、2＋2の4桁目を指おさえしましょう！

Since 36 and 51 are both 2-digit numbers, place your finger on the 4th digit from the right!

そろばん7級では、10〜8級までとは違い、左から右の順で頭から順番にかけていきます！（理由を知りたい方は、YouTubeの概要欄をチェック！）

In Abacus Level 7, unlike Levels 10 to 8, you multiply from left to right, starting with the highest place value! (If you want to know why, check the YouTube description!)

あとは、6×51の計算が残っているので、1(桁)＋2(桁)＝3桁目を指おさえしましょう。

Next, since you still need to calculate 6 × 51, place your finger on the 3rd digit from the right!
